Tough first round draw for him, if he can even get ready in time to make the start line.

Hopefully see him in the Olympics, as the tournament's greatest modern male player, it'd be a fitting place for him to end his career.

Scotland's greatest athlete 💙. I doubt we'll see his like again in our lifetimes.

Because you hate being dildo'd and I knew you'd get annoyed/comment on it.

Whole career has been a roller coaster ride, ending things in the same way!

Tough test against Paul and Fritz tomorrow. Will be doing well to get through that one.

Strange analogy. A rollercoaster always ends on a slow flat straight 😄.

A great career comes to an end... If not for injuries, I'm certain he'd have had 6 Grand Slams, but in any other era than the 3 GOATs, I think he'd have won at least 10. A 'what if' pub argument perhaps, but when you look at previous eras, I think he was better than the likes of Connors, McEnroe and Edberg and at least on par with Becker and Agassi. On his day, he'd have also given Sampras a hell of a game.

Agree with all of it. That he lost 5 Oz open finals (4 to Djokovic and 1 to Federer), without managing to win one, particularly irks me. He was so strong at that tournament but, unfortunately for him, Djokovic is almost as dominant there as Rafa has been at RG.

Don't think he ever really managed to master clay and get to the level he was on all other surfaces, so I'm not too disappointed he never won in Paris. However, the fact he won Masters titles on clay and got to the final in the French is a testament to his desire/determination to improve and succeed.

Agree that he'd be in double digits if it wasn't for those 3. He's as good as all those older guys IMO.

I am chuffed he is the Olympic king though and has something none of those other guys do. I just wish he'd won those golds for Scotland.

Was a wee bit emotional when his career. He's given me the greatest sporting moments of my life and I'll miss him being a focal point of my tennis fandom.

The greatest Scottish sportsman ever without a doubt.

I regret nothing.

A normal boy, my age, from 20 miles up the road and he worked his way to be the best player in the world, in an era with the 3 best players of all time.

He is and always will be, my hero.
