NorthernLights24
Quite a lot of internationals being played this week. A couple of important games that have an effect on our World Cup group are played later today. FYR Macedonia v NorwayIceland v Netherlands I'm watching Azerbaijan v Wales on the BBC website. Apparently the average age of the Welsh starting XI is only 21. Link to comment

NorthernLights24
thought it was maybe more than that , which was the last club he managed ? Some people are just too lazy to check Wikipedia themselves Bayer Leverkusen from 2000 to 2001. What surprised me is thats the only time hes managed at club level. Link to comment
carlos
was that the year got to the champions league final at hampden or was that 2002 ? that s quite surreal that he only managed one club side Link to comment
Tord31
Just watched the second half of Macedonia 0-0 Norway. Getting a wee bit more confident of us taking the play off spot. Pretty sure we can play for a draw in Norway if thats what we feel like doing, and pretty sure we can beat Macedonia at Hampden. How many points do we think we need to avoid being the worst runner up (not involved in the play offs)? Link to comment

Jaws
finished 0-0 That's the best possible result for us. Confident we'll finish second now. Let's just hope we're not the worst runners up. Link to comment
Dandyjam
Dutch 1-0 up in Iceland as well which is good news. Link to comment
tutankamun
Can anyone explain to me how Damien Duff is playing right wing for ROI but plays left back for Newcastle? 74 mins gone, 1-1 v Bulgaria, the turncoat McGeady has just come on. Link to comment
Jaws
2-0 Holland now. Another good result if it stays that way. Link to comment
NorthernLights24
Italy v N.Ireland on BBC3. Game is being played in Pisa. Coates who we were linked with a few weeks back is starting. Rossi just smashed one in. Great goal. 1-0 Italy. Clips off the inside of the post and in. Link to comment

How many points do we think we need to avoid being the worst runner up (not involved in the play offs)? The result of that game is entirely academic because of the worst runner up thing.... Whatever happens we'll need to beat Macedonia at home, and beat Norway in Oslo, in order to qualify for the playoffs. Because of the way results have gone, Scotland are the only team in group 9 with any chance of reaching the playoff.... if the other teams in our group go on a run of form, they'll still likely miss out - there is too much ground for them to make up. Agreed though I fear another heroic Scottish failure - runners up but with too few points. We need wins and for other groups to have loads of draws Link to comment
Jaws
Results in other groups now takes effect for us. For example Croatia are curently drawing 1-1 with Ukraine. I'm sure Croatia are currently the worst runner up as things stand so a draw in that game is what we want. Link to comment

Sonoftherock
2-1 Ukraine. Is that good or bad for us? Too early to worry about that.... we need to concentrate on winning against Macedonia and Norway. Then we can start thinking about hypothetical scenarios, leading into the final match against Holland at Hampden. Link to comment

I don't really fancy us to come to Norway with the tactics of we must win. Play for a draw and if we win then its a boost. We can surely beat Holland at home in the last game though, Holland might even not call up their full squad with Champions League the midweeks before and after. Link to comment
