His signing a two year deal was excellent news. I was surprised he did but delighted. Great find. Although his enthusiasm on the pitch has been waning recently. I reckon he's been seeing how sh*te the rest of his team mates are but if we can recruit similar or better quality around him, he'll be a real asset.

Exactly the impression I was getting recently. If I was to allow myself to speculate optimistically, I'd think that Milsom sought assurance that the squad would be significantly bolstered before signing on the dotted line.

With Hartley set to retire I'd make the lad captain next season. So composed and can imagine he'll lead by example. May even keep him fully interested for the full season if it's 'his' team. If it goes well there'd possibly more chance of him extending his deal again.

Love the common misconception on this website that if you're not bawling and screaming you're a sh*te captain. Most of the time it's detrimental to the teams efforts when you have a guy like that who can barely play the game properly himself giving you the hairdryer treatment.

You want a captain who doesn't need to shout and scream, someone who just gives you a look that sayd "that was pish.....". You also want a captain who dig in and graft and brings his team back into a game if they are struggling. Simple things like slowing the pace of the game down by bringing some composure in midfield (if he's a midfielder) and playing some sensible, non rushed passes.

I'm not sure about Milsom being captain yet, but I don't really see anyone else filling in that role. I'd prefer my captain to be a midfielder than a defender or striker for the simple reason that a midfielder can dictate play and is able to talk to the forwards and defence.

I agree with everything you've said there and I think that's Milsom down to a tee. Possibly could dig in a little bit more if I'm being critical though.

I think the thing that's going against him is top level experience but I think this could help the lad mature.
