Annoying Things About Working In An Office

Recommended Posts

A guy in my work recently received a 'non-conformancy report' for not using the updated revision of a PO. He was then reminded of the fact by HR at the weekly operations meeting, just after they had raised the issue of the trip hazard [A single step] not being properly highlighted.

HR Bureaucracy, is probably my biggest gripe.

Email. I hate the mis-use of email. Someone emails you something and think that's their problem passed on to someone else to deal with. And then there's the tossers who insist on cc'ing their boss, your boss, and anyone else they fancy - either trying to make you look bad or to protect their sorry arse. Then their are the idiots who refer to old emails - "as per my email of september 15th 2008". Yeah well i get about 300 emails every day, sorry if i dont remember the exact detail of every fucking one of them. I was probably hungover that day and deleted it.

What happened to talking to each other? It's much better when someone phones for a chat or takes the time to walk over to talk about something.

Oh yes, I work in IT. So I hate email worse when it doesn't work cos then everyone is on my case saying they can't do their job. For fuck sake, pick up the phone or get up off your fat arse and go talk to someone instead, or find something else to do for 10 minutes. I'll get it fixed as quick as I can but complaining to me isn't going to get it fixed any quicker.

But it is funny when someone sends an email to everyone in the company when they didn't mean to.

Only time I've ever worked in an office was 1 week during school for work experience and I spent each morning staring at the clock on the wall counting down till dinner time and each afternoon staring at the clock on the wall counting down till 5 oclock. Mind numbingly boring and put me off working in an office for life. However from my own personal experience, I can see the appeal to certain types of people as they get to piss about for the majority of the day, take overly long breaks for dinner and get to come in late and go home early.

How horny she feels maybe?

How she likes cock and it must have been the time she didn't take it up the Cooncil gritter that she conceived?

How big her breasts are getting and how they've started leaking milk from her large nipples.

there really is no answer to that apart from :spunk:

There's a absolute rocket of a middle aged woman in my work who looks like a cross between a hobbit and the Penguin from Batman, she told us during lunch the other week she hasn't been pumped for seven years.

Also keeps talking every day about her Mum who died a couple of years ago, she genuinely tried to get permission to light a candle on her desk on the anniversary of her dying.

:hysterical:

Cunts that run in the office to and from the printers etc. Fucking gimps.

This, as well as

Thick, thick people with complete and undying confidence in their completely wrong opinions (normally spurted out from some half understood thing someone else said or corp propaganda pish*).

that.

just about everything. really, just about everything.

to keep it generic, the mundanely bizzarre way in which peer pressure seems to set in and people start obeying group norms without realising they're doing it.

I treat work as prison, but I get home in the evenings and out for lunch or yard time.. I also get the legal minimum holidays, which i appreciate americans would struggle to get.

Furthemore, to be slightly more specific, I abhor office and business lingo and chat. Holidays are holidays not 'annual leave'. I'm here to earn money, not out of choice. I'm not crazily fascinated by what goes on at work and do not return keener after weekends but duller. Holidays lift my spirits enormously to the point i rediscover my lust for life, returning to the office nearly kills me.

Anyone who is more enthused for the office after a holiday than before it needs shot or a good psychiatrist.

ps monday holidays should be sacred, shared time off work is communal and builds communities and a sense of communal well being. How the f3ck Scotland manages to not celebrate easter grinds every gear in my body, it is the only christian country in the world that doesnt.

and all of that.

Its fucking shite working in an office. Its also shite working and being an average, boring 9-5er.

If I'm still doing this in 5 years I'll kill myself :suicide:

Agree with this, work is a means to an end. Anyone who claims to 'love their job', a sad fucker.

Dunno about the easter thing though, any job I have ever had, have got good Friday and easter Monday off.

Hate safety meetings with a passion, because they're scheduled for an hour some safety guy makes sure they last that long, some crap like an environment quiz or something is used to fill the time, please just fuck off.

All safety officers are geeky boring bastards who like listening to their own pish about stop cards and other shite an hour of listening to that every Sunday night, they feel so important while every other cunt is thinking shut the fuck up !

In the main it's a relevant job they do.

But the same boring speach at pre tour about "man" putting poly cup in waste paper bin and "man" not using trailing hand technique.

If anything the stop/start systems give pricks an even bigger reason to be a prick, I bet some feel a great sense of pride at the next smoko writing out their card.

In my old place of work we each had oor own offices. It was perfect, get a coffee first thing, close the door, bung on some metal, surf the net, and occasionally work in between. Lunchtime was a rude interruption but the food was free and tasty. 15 mins of listening tae folk go on about skiing, boating or whatever shite Norwegians get up to, and then back in to my own world again.

That world was abruptly shattered in February when we moved offices. Now eh have to see and hear the fuckers 8 hours a day.

Thankfully eh start a new job in a few weeks where all my colleagues are non-Norwegian and the banter, from having met them twice, looks promising.

Drafty's, Engineers, stuff like that, a lot of their work is long boring time consuming and doesn't require a lot of thinking, music at work is a basic human right, I like having music on when working. I don't wear headphones just have the radio or tunes on.

Just noticed this Dayts you cheeky cant!:laughing:

Fat birds in the office who bring in cakes/biscuits/sweeties for "everyone" but once they've offered everyone they sit there and gobble the rest down one after the other which was the real reason for them taking them in in the first place.

Haha spot on!

It's ok though as they were at the gym for an hour last night, not doing any real exercise like, they were just there.

Norwegian birds are mostly tidy though, at least you have that.

My office is full of boring cunts

All they ever do is talk about work

It never used to be like that

All the fun folk have left

I only go in when it is absolutely necessary

I should point out that though mobby works for the same firm as me the office he visits isn't where I work.

As you were.

support staff that somehow wrongly interpret the importance of their role.

to be clear, i treat everyone the same and with respect, from the cleaners down. :-) But when auxiliary staff start trying to call the shots it pushes me out of my mind. Middle aged women are particularly bad at this, fussy bossy bitches some of them. erm, pipe down love and do your work.

Or middle age wifies who are the assistant to the project leader but think they are assistant project leader. Basically a PA but they think they are much higher and have some kind of authority.

Meetings in general, especially the meeting about the meeting before the meeting.

Or folk that issue a "pre read" before a meeting because the learnt it on some course then proceed to regurgitate the pre read word for word, so whats the point in the meeting at all now....?

Office staff seem to when it suits have a life outside of the office, but then are quick enough to phone at supper time or send emails when your on holiday.

Also office staff who send emails about engineers wasting there time but are happy enough to waste your time constantly.

Middle Management who wear a clip on their belt to hold their Blackberry, which is checked on an almost secondly basis.

Middle Management don't fit in anywhere. Below them are the normal workers who they think they are above and don't socialise with unless there are motives behind it. Above them are the Owners, Directors and proper management. These guys are usually normal people who worked hard to get where they are.
