Celtic V Aberdeen (3 - 1)

Recommended Posts

Big one for us this.

I do think that, despite our injuries, we have a team capable of going there and winning.

Yes, they are undefeated, but I think that is more by good luck than any sort of sizzling form.

Very lucky to avoid defeat when United & ICT went there, and of course, failed to score v Falkirk in the Cup.

I think we should be playing 3 CBs for this one.

Celtic scored four v Ross Co the other week. All from crosses/headers.

Our capitulation down there from 3-1 up earlier this year was exactly the same.

Falkirk also congested the central defensive area attacking any cross ball coming in with numbers.

Against Motherwell, also a team who like to get plenty crosses into the box, we nullified their effect almost completely by having the 3 CBs deployed in there even with the 10 men.

We have strong players in that area. Clearly we have to be powerful in there to combat their obvious strength.

Play 2 wing backs (CBs) also strong in the air to give ourselves best chance of winning this pivotal battle.

Oh aye. And try and keep 10 men on the pitch. That'll increase our chances even more. :clangers2:

Get Hayes and Mcginn advanced as much as possible every time the ball heads towards Zola.

Watched his first half performance very closely last week.

Every single time the ball was played forward to him, he retained it, and forwarded to a team mate.

Cannot recall him giving up possession even once.

5-4-1 has failed us countless times in the past when playing sellik or the dead rangers, so I don't see how it will work this time. It invariably results in a defensive performance that invites pressure. I would rather see us having a go.

So true. You have got to keep the ball and show the audacity to put them under pressure. If we cant force the game into their half, we will concede a goal a some point, even if on the whole we defend well. We need our best players - Reynolds, Anderson, Pawlett, Mcginn and Hayes - to play at the top of their game, and for the rest to do the simple things right. With both Flood and Robson out we could well see players like Low, Masson and Clark make an appearance. Would be great to go down there and win anyway.

Wish I shared the confidence of some on here.

Our recent record against these fucking cunts is nothing short of appalling and despite our reasonable start to the season I cannot just forget years of stage fright and pumpings just like that.

I think we'll get beat but I would love to be wrong and watch us give these bastards a long overdue going over.

I'll be there :scarf:

Won't be particularly bothered if we lose, as long as we look solid defensively i.e. no individual mistakes (I'm looking at you clangers) and so long as we look dangerous on the few attacks that we will have.

They are lightyears ahead of us, and don't think any of our players would get in their best XI.

Still, if they have an off day we can capitalise!
