lukas989
Celtic manager Ronny Deila says the club could take their appeal against Aleksandar Tonev's racism charge to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas). The on-loan Aston Villa winger was given a seven-match suspension after being found guilty by the SFA of racially abusing Aberdeen's Shay Logan.Tonev's initial appeal with the SFA will be heard on Thursday. When asked if Celtic could take the case to Cas, Deila said: "We'll see, this is a very serious accusation."And he added: "We will have to do everything in our power to get this away from Alex, we believe him."It's been word against word and they are thinking the other guy is telling the truth and Tonev is lying, and for me that's not how a court should be, for me it should be real proof."This is a very serious accusation and you have to absolutely know you're right. If it's still going to go on and there's no proof we will have to do everything we can to help Alex."We don't believe Aleksandar is a racist."Cas is an independent international body with its headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, established to settle disputes related to sport. They dont know hes not; they just believe he isnt. The walls are crumbling. Link to comment
dj_bollocks
Being trolled by a right hoop arguing the toss… He's still guilty, despite his right to appeal, until we're told otherwise… Could be a long night... Link to comment
brownie
This CAS appeal line from Celtic will have spooked the SFA and they'll be ensuring everything is watertight. Link to comment
tup
Celtic's stance on this issue has been nothing short of an absolute disgrace. They have twice attempted to pre-empt the enquiry outcome. This alone should attract a charge of bringing the game into disrepute. They have clearly made these public pronouncements in an attempt to apply their usual leverage to the SFA. Their manager has made an absolute fool of himself in terms of his public comments on the issue. Scott Brown also got involved. Both should be banned for a number of games and heavily fined should the ban be upheld or increased for Tonev. The situation now boils down to whether the SFA has any balls to tackle a clearly out of control club who appears to consider itself to be bigger than the governing body of our game. The final outcome will tell us a lot about where Scottish football is at in attempting to tackle the ridiculous power falsely bestowed upon the corrupt clubs from Glasgow. 8 Link to comment

Showed this comment to the tattie muncher at work to which he replied.... how would you answer him back? CFC have strongly condemned all forms of racism, but just because someone claims something doesn’t make it true. The facts are only two people know what happened, so no one else can say or assume guilty. I would be the first to demand that Tonev be sent back if there was ANY proof, but no video evidence, nothing for the experts to lip read, and no one else heard. Does your stance then mean that any footballer can run to the 4th official and claim something was said, and that that player then be assumed to be guilty?? This could cause chaos in the game – The racists should be and need to be drummed out of the game, but we can’t have witch hunts based on one person’s word about what they heard, or what they thought they heard!! 1 Link to comment
tup
The classic whataboubery. Assume Tonev is innocent and claim that punishing innocent people would cause chaos in the game. It's a none too clever way of trying to muddy the waters. This is a specific issue, where the player has already been found guilty, and clearly is. It's absurd and insulting for Celtic fans to suggest otherwise. Logan and the SFA have done nothing wrong. It's Celtic who need to explain themselves, their behaviour on this issue is off the scale. This from a club who cheated Lech Poznan in heinously dishonest fashion already this season. Link to comment
The Boofon
Ditto.Sad news up your way Boof.Indeed. Poor wee lad. Don't know him but know the family. Just down the road from me. We were out yesterday and came home to the road blocks. A wee boy got hit last month at the other end of the street. Traffic coming through the town is really bad although that's not to say anything was amiss yesterday. Just a general observation. Need to get parking restrictions on the corners to give better line of sight in my opinion. Link to comment
lukas989
In many ways though, its quite nice to know that many a person on heres thoughts on Celtic - i.e. complete and utter stinking fuckwit cunts - is entirely justified. Being right rules. Link to comment

Merkie84
The SFA have obviously made a big error here. They could have avoided all this hassle and done the only sensible thing.
