Fish And Chips - Where's The Best?

I'm doing some research for an article on fish and chips/football and trying to find the best fish and chips shops near football grounds.

 

Where's the best fish and chips near Pittodrie? Is there somewhere that everybody goes? Any really top notch chippy's at some of the other grounds in Scotland that everybody goes to?

Otherwise I liked the one on Urquhart Road when I lived round the corner from it.

"Atlantic Fast Food" (a chippy) is quite near Cliftonhill, the home of Albion Rovers in Coatbridge (The Athens of North Lanarkshire).

There's a Chinese one in King St which is the worst I've ever tasted .

 

Agreed, a chinese run chippy (in Reading) is also the worst I have tasted.

 

They should stick to fried rice, they know nothing about fish and chips!

The best 2 chippers in Aberdeen are run by Chinese

Didn't rate the bluebird much when I stayed there.

 

Not much near football but st andrews has a chipper called the tail end which is top notch. Can't think of any other.

Been a great fan of the Bluebird over the years ( and it's the closest to Pittodrie) but the fish has not been great recently so when I feel the need for a fish supper it's Torry for me.

Used to regularly go to Mikes right beside Pittodrie when I worked at the driving range and I thought it was pretty decent. Alas, it is no longer there. Bluedbird was decent enough my days living on Nelson Street.

 

Balmedie Chipper probably beats any I have eaten from in Aberdeen though. Nae particularly close to Pittodrie...

The Chinese chipper in Scone is good.

Inverurie and Meldrum are full of toonsers moving out to the sticks.

The best chipper around Aberdeen is Hornblowers in Gourdon and I'll fight any man that disagrees. Rumour had it they were going to move to the beach in Aberdeen which would be perfect post Pittodrie feasting.

The rex at Motherwell is the best in Scotland, folllowed closely by the green chipper across from Middletons at Easter Road, there's a decent one at Killie aswell which is backed up by an ace ice cream/sweetie shop, at Hearts there's one on Gorgie road just as you turn the corner away from the ground which is ok but nothing special.

I remember a good one next to Hampden, can't remember its name though.

 

The chipper in Brae, Shetland is the best I've ever had, its ruined chippers on the mainland for me now.
