New Stadium Approved

Anyway, in other news, from the Westhill for Kingsford page:-

Just to keep you informed....

The second meeting of the stadium project working group was held this evening and chaired by Raymond Edgar, the Project Director. Another very informative and positive meeting attended by representatives of the Community Trust, Westhill and Kingswells Community Councils, Westdyke Community Football Club and the Westhill & District Community Sports and Leisure Hub.

Anyone who has driven past the site recently will have seen the ground remediation and earthworks moving forward at a pace. The work for phase 1 of the project will finish soon and the main contractor will have access to the site from 12th November. All of the required subcontracts will be placed soon afterwards, the majority of which will be with local companies.

The next phase of the work is to cover drainage and civil as works (retaining walls, roads, etc). The preparation works for the training pitches will also take place and the target for the grass pitches is for all of the seeding work to begin in April which will mean that they should be ready by July 2019.

As far as the Judicial Review lodged by NKS is concerned, previously reported dates have changed. The procedural review will now be on 19th Dec with the main hearing taking place from the 29th - 31st Jan 2019. The change is primarily due to the 3 QCs involved agreeing that they would need more than a day for the main hearing. The outcome will not be known until at least 3 months later. Interesting that the growth of the grass on the pitches will be well underway by then!

If the JR is successful (from and NKS point of view), any further development work will need to stop and the club would need to re-apply for planning permission.

If the JR is not successful, development can continue as planned.

The club is committed to maintaining these links with the community groups, and as this phase of the project nears completion, there will be an opportunity to have input regarding the best use of the facilities.

The next meeting of this group is provisionally planned for Feb, and I’ll provide an update at that point.

Training facilities ready by next summer, great news.
