Sonoftherock
GMS harder to replace than Shinnie. Certainly on this seasons evidence. I'm quite shocked at how good GMS has been this season. I didn't think he was capable of such consistency in performance. Every week he's one of our best players. Easily our most creative player- we've been very over-reliant on him creating something, going forward. 1 Link to comment
mcdougall(4)
Ball and a passer in the middle would suit me Re invest the shinnie money in gms Link to comment
Tord31
Agreed - another reason I think it would be Yoann Folly for GMS to move on at this point. A one year deal could be a happy medium to get something agreed? Link to comment

cruzcampo3
For past few years we were sorting contracts out when players still had a year/ 18 months left. Makes me feel even more so they are away Link to comment

Mr John
@mr john Shinnie's not my type darling, but appreciate the heads-up. </gay mode> I'd like to see us try a different midfield set up, Shinnie's alright, but he gets first pick in there because he's captain. How are we without him on the pitch and who fills in? Ball and Ferguson? Do we bring in one of our dropped CMs (Gleeson, Forrester, Tansey)? Link to comment
strachanmcgheegoal
Normally would be Ball with Ferguson and persist with 2 wide 2 up top. 1 of the 2 wide (McGinn) doesn’t tend to do 2 games in a week. 2 of the 2 up top play like they’re wearing different tops. Link to comment

Donstar83
Pretty much confirms he's away after the press conference comments "I am at an age now now where this is a big contract for me and a big time in my career," he added. "I am just going to take my time and speak with my family and make my decision when it comes." Link to comment

Dynamo
To play devils advocate, is it a disaster if he leaves? He's no Kenny McLean in terms of quality. We would definitely need to replace his drive in the middle of the park though. And Dean Campbell will be a year older, looking to break through... Link to comment
Ernie McCracken
To play devils advocate, is it a disaster if he leaves? After Christie and McLean left, McInnes signed Forrester and Gleeson to replace them. Given this fact, then yes, it will be a disaster if he leaves. 1 Link to comment

minijc
Replacing him with an actual midfielder that can tackle will be a huge improvement. 1 Link to comment

People cant have it both ways. Link to comment
Sonoftherock
We'd miss his leadership more than anything. As a central midfielder, on our budget, a player of Shinnies quality should be replaceable (... but Derek McInnes recent form worries me!). As others have said, in terms of quality, McLean a much bigger loss. Link to comment
aberdeen1970
We'd actually be better with a passing midfielder to play alongside Ferguson. Ferguson is better as Shinnie's replacement in my mind. But yes, we'll miss him as a driving force and a leader. His workrate can never be questioned Link to comment

We would definitely need to replace his drive in the middle of the park though. And Dean Campbell will be a year older, looking to break through...We will struggle to replace Shinnie. He's never injured, has great drive and determination and has been a very good captain for the club. He's a different type of player from McLean. But when you see who McInnes bought to replace McLean and Rooney it worries me that the same thing happens when he tries to replace Shinnie. Link to comment
