Aberdeen 0 - 1 Celtic - League Cup Final 2018

Recommended Posts

People love to go for a 'look at me' point of view, it's pretty tiresome reading these 100% for or 100% against views on twitter with Aberdeen fans seemingly at war with each other on there.

The answer it's probably somewhere in the middle though isn't it. Have we underperformed on the big stage? Yes. Have we given a good account of ourselves on the big stage? Yes.

Aberdeen peaked in season 16/17, and bar the bottle job 3-0 league final I don't think we could have done much more but Celtic were, literally, unstoppable that year. Shit luck.

There's a rebuilding job needing done and that should be started in January.

Great post.

We are struggling this season but we keep losing our best players year on year and it's tough to replace them. Not an easy job and time needs given.

Do you want me to list all the serial winners who have class and dignity.

Brown is the complete opposite of a real winner. Big fish small pond, utterly over rated.

It's only morons in the Scottish media who see his pantomime antics as a winning mentality.

And yet if you're saying that you wouldn't have a player like Brown in our team you're clearly deluded.

Sure he's a greeting faced wee prick, but I'd have him in a Dons team quicker than you can say Tansey, Forrester or Gleeson, anyone who thinks otherwise doesn't understand football or doesn't want Aberdeen to win something.

Brown is found wanting every time he has to step out of the cosy environs of the Scottish league, with the friendly officials.

Remember when the boy Cochrane made a mug of him and his response was to do the lad, the media here thought it was hilarious.

Showed him up for what he was.

Bet people would have said the same about back pass, he was found sorely wanting down south or fatty Boyd, couldn't cut in 3 countries outside including the MLS ffs.

It’s time the manager sorted out

our best starting 11 and sticks with it, letting the opposition worry about us instead

of him worrying about them.

That's never going to happen with McInnes now. The days of having a team capable of troubling everyone are gone. He's assembled a team that struggles to trouble Hearts, Hibs and Motherwell now on a consistent basis. We get results but by fuck it's boring stifling football these days.

Good post.

The issue a lot of fans have, is McIness the man to rebuild the team?

Milne will stick by him but do we trust McIness to spend any funds we have?

My point isn't as much about how they acted, more about DMc and Shinnies reaction to it. As I said above, they can swagger about and get under people's skin- when you win everything you earn that right.

Please explain how you earn the right to act like an antagonising prick?

What a load of shit you have written here.

You can still win and act with class.

You can. But if you chose not to, it wouldn't matter- because you're a fucking winner. That's my point.

You have no point.

Of course it matters. Folk don't respect that shite.

Much better to show a bit of class.

Class is irrelevant when you're winning consistently.

Maybe I'm rambling a bit but IMO their reaction, whilst cunty, isn't newsworthy.

Aw no they weren't classy enough boo hoo, we weren't good enough and a lot of people are focusing on the former rather than the latter. That's my frustration.

Sniffing heaps of glue today as well, to be fair.

I think the aftermath of the game is being blown out of all proportion, with both sets of players/managers making accusations.

With all this talk of class and sportsmanship etc, you would think football was renowned for these attributes. In reality, its likely one of the worst sports there is for lacking these qualities, both on and off the field.

So what if sellick were over exuberant in their celebrations? Who cares what a neanderthal like Brown does? Ultimately, it only shows that they see us as their major rival. We should have kept our powder dry and given them a double helping back next time we beat them.

These guys could all have been legends but instead they'll be forgotten in 20 years. Real opportunity there on a Sunday to play a tired and 70% Celtic team. We were too scared.

We weren't too scared. The current squad just aren't good enough. Have you seen us this season? There's a reason we are sitting 7th and have scored about 4 goals all season.

January window is huge for McInnes. If he gets it wrong, again, we are heading for a play off against Dundee United in May

Great article and spot on with every point, from a personal point of view my overwhelming feelings from Sunday immediately after the game were

1. I am sick of trailing down to Glasgow to see Aberdeen getting beat in big games

2. I really do hate everything about Glasgow and Hampden, from the SFA, the Stadium itself, the Big two Glasgow teams and how everything seems to be set up to favour them, the mental capacity of stewards the have working and of course the heavy handed Strathclyde police.

3. I fucking hate the 4 1/2 hours on the bus it takes to get back to "My home in Aberdeen"

4. Why did McInnes pick the starting line up to include Cosgrove?

5. I cannot stand that bastard Scott Brown.

By the time I got back to Aberdeen I really only had one thought, I cant wait until we play that tinky tim bastards again in May in the Scottish cup final so I can be standing in the West stand at Hampden screaming my support for Aberdeen

You can of course act that way but it makes you a cunt not a winner.

Only a pleb would think otherwise.

So. They're winning cunts? Cunts who win? Or cunts who are winners, but still cunts?

Winners are grinners etc. Winners with class=smug. You can be a cunt and be a winner...it makes sense, tbh.

This is where I differ slightly. The last 6 years of huncuntery proved beyond doubt that the whole Glasgow pish as you describe isn’t natural order. It’s an entirely artificial construct that is apparently immune to corporate reality and is hence untouchable.

Doncaster’s model is precisely what you describe - that you won’t hesitate to get back and support us as plucky losers once more. But, other than occasional one-offs we can’t win. If we did start to consistently win their edifice crumbles. They’re not going to let it happen. In fact they’ve ably demonstrated the lengths they’ll go to to ensure it doesn’t happen.

You support as you wish as will I. But if Milne thinks nobody noticed what happened,or that sad principled old fuckers like me can be replaced in terms of unquestioning bums on seats then good luck to him.

December 26th Mcinnes and company get your shit together. And run these green and white arse holes into the ground by putting the ball in the net and knock the smirks off their smart ass faces. Then do 7 laps round pittodrie merry Christmas.

That happens to be my bday shooftah, joining me and the boys for a drink? More than welcome. Most sensible poster on this forum.
