strachanmcgheegoal
Main is there to press. Nothing else. If he’s not pressing effectively (and I mean for a minimum 75 minutes with the ability to do something with any chance he forces before someone cites Stevie May).then he’s a poor signing. elephantstone78
A good evaluation of a player’s worth can often be gleaned by the fans reaction when he leaves. Motherwell fans appear to be very much of the no great loss opinion. Certainly no howls of protest at him leaving. In conclusion, he’s pish. Link to comment

DelMonte
A tough game to play in on Sunday and a thankless task last night, however, he's looked fucking useless. Counted 3 times he failed to control the ball last night before finally being able to get turned with the ball just to pass it about 2 yards behind a team mate and lose it. I'll give every player a chance but he has looked fucking awful. Link to comment
OddJob
Totally agree looked awful when he came on. Lack of goals going to be the problem yet again this season Link to comment
StandFree1982
I'd love to give him the benefit of the doubt and say it's down to a lack of confidence and game time, but I think it's just down to a lack of ability. Nae his fault. I find it hard to critisise players who are just not very good. This is on McInnes for signing and playing him. It's the same with Darren Mackie. You can't slate the guy for giving it a go when asked, we all would. It's the fact that these limited players are being signed/picked again and again. Link to comment

strachanmcgheegoal
Said it on the other thread. He was (at least should have been) bought to press and harry. Essentially to replace Stevie May. 1/. He’s gash2/. He is clearly being told to go out and pretend you’re Sam Cosgrove. The problem is not even Sam Cosgrove can believe he’s Mr ballon d’or so there’s not a chance Curtis’ going to cut it.3/. His ONLY tactic is to wait for a high through ball and then bounce into the CH. that’s it. That’s all he does. Either play him to do that or get him to fuck. Link to comment
StandFree1982
Don’t forget,it’s the market we’re operating in etc etc... I mentioned this in the game thread, but how hard is it to find players with the ability to the ability to do the very basics of football? You know, pass it, dribble it and have an actual first touch? These aren't superstar attributes, it's something you should expect from EVERY professional footballer. We seem, in Scotland as a whole, have a knack of ignoring these attributes and going for height, build and athleticism. Rijeka had a side full of comfortable players, even their back 4 have the ability to knock it around without looking like they've never seen a ball before. Even the side we put out in the last round had players who were technically decent. If they had ability to defend I think we'd have struggled against them. 1 Link to comment

shut up meg
I don't think that Main will be a good signing however he's doesn't stand a chance if he's on his own up front, nearest team mate is 20-30 yards away and the defenders are launching balls up and over his head.It didn't work with May, it occasionally works with Cosgrove and it won't work with Main.If he wants to play with 1 up front, the 3 behind need to be a lot closer to the lone forward. 1 Link to comment
StandFree1982
Cosgrove is actually pretty good with the ball at his feet, his touch is not bad either. That's why it works with him, plus his ability to get into goal scoring positions means he'll always have a chance with a goal or two. I just don't see any of that with Main. Link to comment
BWG
Mind when the huns signed that useless fat hoor? Waghorn was it? I'd rather have him than Main. Link to comment

starryfish
Main up front alongside Cosgrove is the way to go given our lack of footballing ability throughout the team. Link to comment

Dynamo
Main should surely only play when Cosgrove is injured? McInnes clearly thinks he can play the same way when either Cosgrove or Main is on the pitch. To throw Main on in games as an apparent attempt to chnage things is just fucking stupid. If it didn't work with Cosgrove it sure as hell won't work with Main. Just another example of McInnes' lack of a Plan B. Link to comment

That should tell you something about the type of football he's used for. He's a hearts type player I think. Hope he proves me wrong but right now I've no idea what we think he's going to do for us. Someone mentioned waghorn, well Main is exactly the sort of donkey the huns were signing about 3 years ago and we absolutely pissed ourselves at the level of ambition. In short, I'd laugh at any other top Scottish team signing this guy. Link to comment
