The Hulk
Blaming the players when putting out a side with 2 defenders in central midfield isn't a good look. And yet last week it seemed to work quite well. So with Bryson not fully fit he decided to stick rather than twist. However it became rapidly clear it was a flawed decision. As was the decision to start with McLennan (who was dreadful) over Wilson. Vyner & Leigh were so horrendously deep it gave their midfield (& centre half) the freedom of the pitch. Really should’ve changed it after (or even before) the 2nd goal went in, patently obvious we needed a Bryson type to get his foot on the ball. But let’s get real here, team selection flaws apart, it is not a manager’s instruction to allow an opponent to be able to take 2/3/10 touches on the ball unchallenged which happened the whole of the 1st half, and fairly often in the second. That’s just players with a pea-sized heart hiding from their duties. That 1st half with our backs to the wall was screaming out for a big two footed lunge to let Celtic know they were in a game. A chronic lack of character in that starting line-up today and it says a lot that our biggest miss from the team today that ticks those boxes is a 20 year old midfielder. Hedges, Ferguson, Bryson, prob also Wilson must start on Weds. Leigh back to LB. Win the next two with style & flair & character to try win the support back. Shoogly peg time this month; min 10 points needed. Link to comment
shut up meg
Yeah to be fair he made no excuses, but who is it that time and time again is telling the team to sit off Celtic? Or are the players consistently ignoring his instructions? Since Deila left in 2016, we have had 1 win (dead rubber at Parkhead) 1 draw and 15 defeats against Celtic. We have scored 7 goals and conceded 38.We have lost all 7 home games in a row, scoring 4 and conceding 20. We have probably used the same tactics over and over again with different personnel, the only constant through this run has been DMC. He and his supporters can blame the players for not turning up on the day however it is DMC that signs the players, picks the team, sets out the tactics for the game and gives them the team talk before they run out the tunnel. The blame falls firmly on his shoulders. Link to comment

OddJob
Sadly, it's too late for me to care what happens in November. McInnes can fuck offAgreed mate his position is surely untenable and if Milne doesn’t act we could be in deep trouble tbh as last week aside we’ve been utter horrific and I honestly can’t see where the next good performance is going to come from Link to comment

old sheep
What summed up that performance was Devlin. He came to the club with the reputation of having a big heart, totally committed and a leader. What we got today was weak and pathetic. Something nae right when these qualities are missing from the player. Link to comment

Oregon Red
Looking back to the results from us and others against the Bigots Twins..it appears we really are a bottom 4 club. Motherwell, Livi do put up a much bigger fight against them. Yet our budget is bigger and most of our players should be better on paper.Totally the managers fault. Link to comment

paddy
I think we knew this season was a bogey as soon as McInnes signed the likes of Main and Taylor (and possibly Wilson). Horrendous signings. 2 Link to comment

That’s just players with a pea-sized heart hiding from their duties. But this has been happening regularly against Celtic over the past 2 years and more recently against Rangers. So it absolutely is the manager's job to address previous issues. Particularly when they are so blindingly obvious We could all predict what the set up today was going to be, because McInnes instills this fear in the players and asks them to sit deep and nullify Celtic. Giving a team that played a crucial Euro match less than 72 hours earlier a free pass and allowing them to dictate Even after the match when he said something along the lines of "we all know that if Celtic play well they'll beat us". What a pile of defeatist pish The man has zero bravery when coming up against any team with greater resources and it seems to be getting worse. Link to comment
True_Don
Going man for man today tactically went very wrong. Generally his tactics in big games do not help the team. Once, just once can I really remember his big game tactics working...Logan following Kent man marking against huns. Link to comment
Dynamo
We've almost come full circle under McInnes. The crowds for Celtic games were up around 19k when he took over, now we're down to 15k tops (counting those who had a ticket but didn't go). Surely that will be a concern to the board. We'll struggle to hit 10k (actual attendees) next weekend. Link to comment
Fridge
Think he needs a big statement tomorrow or resign. “We have injuries, not been able to recruit the right players due to resources going to the new stadium, great youth players coming through and it’s a long term project.” You’re welcome if I save your job DM but holy fuck that was horrendous to watch. Its not as if Mcinnes can afford to drop them for disobeying instructions. Our squad is nowhere near big enough for him to do that...even if they were all fit 1 Link to comment
