Betty Swallicks
Aye, should be winning them all eh Not all, don't be silly. More.... certainly! The woeful weegie has a terrible record in semis and finals. Link to comment

King Street Loon
In my 35 years as a Dons fan I don't think we've ever been more divided straight down the line as a fan base. Fascinating...Social media exacerbates that divide. 1 Link to comment
Ke1t
So what are our strengths currently? Joe Lewis. Award winning match programme. Manager who can see into the future. 1 Link to comment
AllyDon
So what are our strengths currently?Actually hard to say now you ask! Don't start the game with 7 defensive players. Play more attacking football.Don't play Cosgrove or May. Play Shinnie at left back.Play Anderson up from with Wilson as a front two. Better recruitment would be a good start in helping with all the above. Link to comment
aberdeen1970
His record for both semis and finals is terrible. To be fair, the fact that he has a record to talk about re finals means that the semi final record can't be that bad. What is his actual record in semis and finals? Link to comment
Henry
League Cup - Semi-finals 2/3 semis won, 1/2 finals won Scottish Cup - Semi-finals 1/3 won, finals 0/1 Link to comment
aberdeen1970
Thanks Henry So a 50% record in semis33% record in finals. Not brilliant but hardly as bad as people are making out. Link to comment

I've been guilty of saying it too.I think McInnes recognises we're not quite at it offensively and is focusing on what we're good at and hopefully nicking a goal and holding onto it. Link to comment
TheRock
Think it's mostly frustration at the actual performances. Scott Brown's finest hour vs Dundee United, St Johnstone at Ibrox and the Motherwell semi were all very winnable ties. Obviously you can't win every game but they all feel like lost opportunities. Dr_Manhattan
If we're to believe McInnes got his tactics right last night then we have to accept that his tactics hinged upon giving up the ball, not fighting to regain possession, allowing Hibs all the room they needed to play their attacking game, and also allowing them to have chance after chance to score but, somehow, conspire never to put the ball in the net. In order for that last part in particular to be part of McInnes' tactics we have to be willing to accept that he had foreknowledge that Hibs would piss away every single chance they got in front of goal, and have two marginally offside goals disallowed. Furthermore, that we'd be able to hang on and beat them in a penalty lottery. Now if those WERE McInnes' tactics then the guy needs to change his name to Nostradamus, because those are some fucking supernatural tactics. QFT, +1 Link to comment

Playing players out of position and sticking with players who are clearly not good enough are not good tactics. Link to comment

Playing players out of position and sticking with players who are clearly not good enough are not good tactics. They aren't tactics at all. This idea of poor recruitment is nonsense. If Wilson, for example, was at Hibs or Hearts the roars from the likes of you would be how come we can never sign anyone like that.Lewis, Logan, Devlin all good signings in the back 5 - recruited by DM.Ball is showing himself to be a more than adequate DM.Shinnie is ShinnieGMS Is decent if inconsistent.Ferguson looks a star in the making and so on... 1 Link to comment

Not once have I suggested otherwise. Cosgrove,May, Forrest all very poor to name just a few. McIness recruitment has been very suspect. Why buy Forrest and Gleason and either not play them much or keep substituting them (feel Gleason was coming onto a game but confidence being knocked by being hooked on a regular basis). If we can't play more attacking, entertaining football then that's down to McIness recruitment. Link to comment

Panda
Was thinking how big a win in the semi would be for McInnes. Many of the support, including even those who back him, have gone cold on him. There's a feeling of apathy coming in. People doubting Aberdeen can do it in the big games, or more specifically that McInnes can't do it, that we're sitting back and letting Rangers stroll ahead of us. What a seismic shift it would be for McInnes to lead Aberdeen to Hampden/Murrayfield/wherever, into a semi-final against Rangers, and knock them out. The sort of result you talk about for years. It would be season defining. Perhaps career defining for McInnes. 5 1 Link to comment
