We're not a charity. He wasn't in the squad because he wasn't good enough to get in it.

Good luck to him. A host of decent clubs on his cv and no doubt made a good living from football. But a journeyman at best. I wish him no ill. 
Hopefully someone coming in to fill the gap in the squad though.

Was he made to train on his own or with the youth team or something I missed.

The manager can't win with some. 

If he'd picked Bates there would have been an uproar. 

If he leaves him out he's 'freezing him out'. 

I feel for Bates as his confidence seemed fragile from the start but he had a decent opportunity at Aberdeen and he just didn't cut it. 

Hopefully he enjoys himself a bit more at his new club.

Nothing against him personally, he just isn’t a good enough player for us. Made the same mistakes over and over.

Poor move not replacing him with another backup defender though. Hopefully there’s a free agent or 2 out there who we are looking at.
