I’m no builder or engineer, but surely they’re not putting a temporary stand there?!

But you’d assume they’ve had it signed off by H&S before going to all that faff.

Can anyone really blame Darvel for trying to maximise their profits whilst keeping the game at their own ground?

 

I applaud them for not buckling and switching the game to Rugby Park.

They’ve flattened some grass verges seemingly. But it’s pouring rain constantly so there’s concern about the work.

On the Darvel Facebook page it looks like they've flattened the top of the grassy hill behind the goal and put a low metal railing up. This would give an elevated viewing platform, but only any good if you're standing in the front. If it's 3-4 rows deep then view will be pish, there will be TV camera scaffolding up as well which will block views, and genuine concerns about circulation of fans for access & egress.

Mental state of affairs just 10 days before the game.

I remember when Elgin City were due to play the huns at Borough Briggs in the league. Elgin hosting them for the first time in the third division. Game due to be played on the Sunday and was due to be televised, postponed on the Friday night because Elgin sold about 1,000 tickets more than their 4,000 capacity. What a carry on.
