Got a bad feeling about this. We are putting all our eggs in the Thelin basket and we could be left with our pants down again.

Then where do we turn?

Whole thing reeks of incompetence.

Better than Warnock, he just used to reek of incontinence

That's how recruitment works. You identify the person you want ahead of any others then you try and reach an agreement.

We'll need to Court someone else if it's not Thelin...

That’s a lot of assumptions when the club have said fuck all about any cunt.

Its like me assuming Leven was off to the little Tesco for his lunch then complaining that he left without any Chilli flavoured Sensations as part of his meal deal.

All good and well, but if you let it drag on too long any other candidates who were previously interested begin to feel alienated and will go elsewhere / tell us to poke it when we come back begging.

If Thelin wants to come to us, he could have decided this well before now and the club should be pushing to get it over the line ASAP, whilst keeping the other candidates close. We can't just give him an indefinite period of time to make his mind up, especially when he has a club and could be using this as leverage to get an increased deal from them.

You simply cannot let it go on this long. He needs to make his decision.

When did we make him an offer and how long did we give him to respond?

Who are the other interested candidates that we need to keep close?

That smell has been around for months, if not years.

Thelin is understood to be keen on the Dons job but is reluctant to leave his club without a boss so soon into their season.

Obviously it’s the club that are being difficult to deal with

While it’s admirable he doesn’t want to leave them in the lurch, we can’t wait forever

Nip the fuck on and resign, Jimmy

As supporters, the limited information we have comes from the press. We reportedly gave him an offer just after Warnock left, to which he turned down.

With it being reported we are not giving up on him, and Burrows giving us the whole "we are at the very final stages", my assumption is he has had this offer for a couple of weeks? As I say we have very limited information as supporters, but if we put it all together I'd say that's where we are.

Of course, I could be completely off the mark, but if I am correct in my thinking then that's my opinion on it all.

Getting myself right wound up today.

Yeah, he's either ambitious and wants to move on or he isn't. We have half a squad to replace and don't have much time to waste really.

It's not like he's been there a few months and is now leaving, he's been there for years.

It doesn’t say anything different to the Sun article above.

Same quotes

Elfsborg director Stefan Andreasson has warned Aberdeen face a fight to land Jimmy Thelin as their next permanent manager.

Andreasson revealed he has had conversations with Thelin about his future and is hopeful he will remain at Elfsborg.

However, the Pittodrie hierarchy are keen on securing the highly-rated 46-year-old,who led Elfsborg to a second-placed finish in the Swedish top-flight last season.

Thelin is contracted to Elfsborg until the end of the 2026 Swedish season.

It is understood Thelin is open to the Aberdeen position, but is reluctant to leave Elfsborg so early in their season.

The Swedish Allsvenskan only started last weekend.

Aberdeen’s board have refused to close the door on Thelin.

The Elfsborg manager impressed when interviewed for the job last year but lost out to Barry Robson for the position.

Interim boss Peter Leven has given the Pittodrie board some breathing space in their search for a new manager by delivering back-to-back Premiership wins.

Those wins under Leven have lessened the threat of relegation and Aberdeen could yet wait until the summer to land Thelin.

Pride in sought-after boss

Andreasson says Elfsborg are “proud that he is a sought-after name” and insists it is  best if a coach, like a player, delivers success and exits for a fee.

However, he is determined to hold on to Thelin.

Andreasson said: “There is interest and options for him, but we have concluded in our dialogues that he should continue with Elfsborg.

“Then we will see what the future holds, we are proud that he is a sought-after name.

“In the best of worlds, it’s like with players, that you sell the coach.

“But when the right option comes for Jimmy, we will find a solution to it.”

It’s just what the link above that 1 says. Next to fuck all really. I hope we have gave him a deadline to decide. Bit of a piss take really that we are going from week to week not having a clue what we are doing and waiting for someone to change their mind and join us in the summer. If it s a matter of us not wanting to pay the money then move on. He’s clearly our no1 candidate that we are dicking about for. If the Aus lad is next on line just go get him.

You get the feeling we’re chasing shadows with Jimmy Thelin.

My guess is Leven will be interim for the season & we’ll be back to scratching around wasting yet more time in the summer looking for a manager, when we should be busy recruiting players.

Looking more and more likely as time goes on. I’ve no issue If we was appointed in summer. But it needs resolved pronto for recruitment purposes.

Thanks, I was wondering if there were any actual quotes or if it was just recycled gossip.

Remember when we were told that we hoped to appoint a permanent manager during the international break... then the international break came and went and we were no further forward?

Then remember when Burrows said a week ago that we were in the final stages but it was probably unlikely we'd appoint someone by the weekend and now a week later and we're no further forward.

The stories coming out now about being prepared to wait until the Summer for the right man have clearly been leaked by the club to cover their incompetence because the reality is we're not even remotely close to appointing anyone.

this time next week this topic will be hitting 500 pages and we still won't be any closer to appointing a new manager.

I hear Dave Cormack is starring as himself in a remake of the 1962 classic "Lawrence of Incompetence"

Just wondering do you want hopefully the correct appointment or a quick one to appease us fans. Surely the right manager would want us to be a spl club with spl budget. Staring relegation in the face has obviously caused us delays. The biggest mistake imo the board should answer is why keep Barry for so long! December was the correct time (unless you count not giving him the job in the first place).

It's reminiscent of when the green filth spent ages showing their knickers to Howe only for him to say no and they ended up with Ange.

Like you say, give him a deadline then move on to the next target.

Who's the Aussie?

They meant the international break for the 2026 World Cup
