Had an acoustic for years,  learnt a few chords and would pick it up occasionally but never had the patience.  Maybe going electric will keep me interested longer.

It'll work fine in a bass amp.  The tone won't be the same as you'd get out of a guitar amp of course but it'll do perfectly for messin' aboot.

That's reasonably correct.  More likely to rip a speaker and or get distortion with a bass guitar through a guitar amp than vice versa.  If yer not playing full blast it won't matter too much tho.
