The Frustration Of The Mcinnes Era So Far

Recommended Posts

I think that we need to accept that something has gone wrong behind the scenes, it can happen, perhaps and issue with that Parker guy,

Perhaps the whole Taylor thing, is there something in that,

I think it's fair the fans know as it will leek out eventually.

What went on with Parker? I did see him walking out the players entrance about half 2 before the St Johnstone game

Still doesn't explain betting against your own team? So when the second goal went in last night you must have been happy cause your pocketing some doh in your hipper.

Some fan that is.

Nope, sorry, my head was in my hands the same as you. Me versus the bookies is a different kettle of fish altogether. I've pumped thousands into the club so I'd be pretty fucking stupid if I ever wanted them to lose...

Can't just be that though, isn't like he came in and we turned rank.

God knows what's up but hopefully it is sorted pronto do don't turn into a bad team over night

Clearly they have because the team have turned rotten.

Most individuals are having a nightmare in form & as a team they are collectively fkn awful. Couple that with McInnes tinkering with the lineups & we are there for the taking. Teams will be wanting to play us for an easy three points again.

So, should mcinnes not tinker and replace the guys that, by your own admission, are playing badly?!

If I am being honest I didn't see this bad run of results coming as I thought the group of players we have are better than that. However, I wasn't getting carried away with 8 in a row as we have not been playing to this teams potential all season. For me the tinkering that Derek is now doing is due to a mistake is in recruitment. We have good players, better players than we have had for many years and that is to Derek's credit. However, as a team we are lacking in a few areas. Through out the spine of the team we lack height and strength. This weakness allows teams to bully us winning anything in the air. Derek tries to compensate for this by using Flood. Now given the Flood of last season I can understand why he keeps persevering with this but for me Flood lacks the stature and height to compete with most of the teams in our league and is prone to giving the ball away. We should have recruited an Kari Arnason or Murray Davidson type midfielder and not Mclean, by the way I rate McLean and think he will be an excellent player. We had players in Pawlette and Smith that could have done the McLean role. I accept they are not playing well but that could be related to the lack of game time and confidence. The recruitment of McLean is excellent but when budgets are tight then you have to make the best of the funds available.

In the striker department we have the dilemma that we just don't have a complete striker. We do not have a striker that scores goals, holds up the ball or has pace to open up teams. We have 3 strikers each having one of the attributes. This is ultimately the reason he tinkers with the strikers. I appreciate the frustration of my fellow dandies with Rooney being dropped but I see why Derek is looking for others to find some form.

The one thing I am critical of is playing Shinnie in midfield and then playing Concidine at left back. Shinnie is clearly our best left back and is probably keeping youth from coming through if he plays in midfield (Smith and Wright).

Even with the missing parts this team is still capable of going on another winning run and beating any team in this league. We are capable of playing better than we have during the 8 in a row of games so all has not gone to sh#t like some seem to be saying.

I have faith in the best manager we have had since Alex and for me we already are far from the sh#t that I have watched play in many years. We won a trophy, we went 8 games unbeaten and have only now been caught in the league. So keep the faith, back the manager and the players.

Hopefully Derek will identify players in January to overcome the missing parts of the jigsaw and we will step up to the next level and start dominating teams.

I think other teams have found us out. We get the ball, we pass it around a bit, we go down the left wing and then fire a cross in...that's all we've done this season. The opposition snuff out that threat and suddenly we're struggling to create anything. It also seems that we've got a defence that can't defend crosses or having a striker running at them.

Even when we were winning games it became clear that we're very one dimensional. The most worrying thing for me is that we've not been able to come up with a plan B. We are seriously missing a striker who is able to win headers so we're sticking with Rooney who hardly wins anything in the air and is getting no service from the midfield on the ground! We'd be as well having Darren fucking Mackie up there for all the use he is at the moment. We need a pacey, tricky striker who can latch onto through balls and make a nuisance of himself like Ross Countys strikers did against us but who can do that? Parker got his chance a few weeks back and was pish, Pawlett has done fuck all this season and not a striker (although on form he's exactly what we need) and that's about it.

I also think we've been hugely unlucky lately with opposition players scoring screamers that they would normally smash into the North Sea, the ball falling kindly for them rather than us at corners (attacking and defensively) etc etc. You do make your own luck, but all of this factors into the poor run we're having.

Roll on the Motherwell game though. we're going to get over the slump at some point....why not Saturday?!

The intrigues of the Premiership season are becoming established.

With the first quarter of the league campaign having been completed at the weekend, the table is beginning to settle into a familiar-looking format.

It was widely expected, after all, that Celtic would eventually return to the top this season. Even so, the nature of Aberdeen's challenge is less predictable. That inconsistency is, in itself, a bewildering drama.

Derek McInnes steered his side to eight straight victories at the outset of the campaign, but Aberdeen have since lost three times in a row in the league, and been knocked out of the Scottish League Cup by Hibernian. For a team that had been so resolute, strong and assertive, the faltering has been eye-catching.

Supporters' minds will jostle with explanations, mostly based on preconceptions, but it is the manager's job to identify and solve the issues that have suddenly beset his team.

Social media has created an environment of boundless speculation and rumour, a world that has infuriated the Aberdeen manager, but in reality it is mundane matters that need to be addressed. McInnes has been making changes to his side, and rhythm and momentum have been lost, while there is a psychological challenge to being league leaders that players need to adapt to.

It is the defensive uncertainties that are most damaging. Aberdeen only conceded three goals during their eight consecutive wins, but have conceded nine in their last three league games.

McInnes assembled a squad with strength in depth, so alterations to the starting line-up shouldn't be disruptive, but senior players must recover their nerve and reliability. The manager will have to rely on his authority and shrewdness to find the means to carry that out. He is well-equipped to cope.
