dave_min
Great musician. Love his work. As someone who wasn't born when most of his best work was being released, i only really got in to him about 5 years or so ago. Damn the Torpedoes is one of my very favourite CD's. What's a CD? 1 Link to comment

Lencarl
Reading that Tom Petty had a DNR in place. Wonder if he had serious underlying health problems, R.I.P Link to comment
strachanmcgheegoal
You've got to hand it to Petty, Knopfler, Springsteen, Adams etc (huge list in fact and I'm not comparing genre's just to be clear). Minted beyond their dreams but still performing to the heights of their considerable abilities well into their 60's and 70's when they could be ball deep in a 21yo Nicaraguan goddess just cos. Clydeside_Sheep
i think Hugh Heffner is a cunt You are right here - Someone who got rich off the back of treating women's bodies as a commodity is obviously difficult to admire. I always thought it particularly patronising that he attempted to portray his jazz mags as something sophisticated as opposed to just, well, jazz mags. Ironically it was well documented that he ended up unable to climax through having sex with a woman, and had to look at porn and stimulate himself in order to get there. So, a victim of his own product, like the drug baron who ends up sniffing most of his own merch. Link to comment

If a woman uses her body as a commodity then it is a commodity. Woman can make their own choices. Link to comment

BillyStarkDivinHeeder
Sean was a friend of mine. I'm very sad to wake up to this news this morning. Met him during the Edinburgh Festival in 2009 in a bar in Hanover St and we had a few beers and talked football. He came to Easter Road with me the following day to see the Hibees who were his Scottish team. He was a Crystal Palace man. Went down to Leith Links Bowling Club with him and the boys and my mate Phil made a joke about Sean being my boyfriend, and my gormless half brother who was with me at the time and who was just a bairn at the time, believed it and went home and told my mother. It's a running joke between me and the boys to this day. Easy going guy, who you enjoyed being around. He had a relaxed, melancholic way about him and nothing seemed to faze him. Was drinking white wine spritzers cos it was better for his waist line apparently. Clearly loved a peeve. He told me about the time he met Morrissey and said he didn't really like him, though he was a massive fan. Said he was very contrary. Said that he walked in, nodded to him and went 'Morrissey' and Morrissey looked at him cold and went 'Hughes'. Also Michael McIntyre is married to his ex girlfriend. She must have a thirst for comedy cock. Kept in touch with him and in 2010 went to see his show and we went to Motherwell away on the Hibs supporters bus. Was a nice time, just sitting chatting about women, music and comedy - he introduced me to George Carlin. I made a joke that Kevin Bridges looked like a fat Rhona Cameron and he said 'Oi, I've fucked her'. hahaha. Sean was a really good looking man. He had the most piercing blue\green eyes you ever saw. He never spoke without the need to and seemed genuinely content with his life. He'd made his money and spent his days around the house, walking his dogs and having a drink. He did a comeback solo tour around this time. . I went to see him in Kirkcaldy and though there were not many people there people enjoyed it. His father died shortly after this and I think it sent him a little awry. We lost touch, as you do. Genuinely saddened to hear this news, but what a life. Youngest ever Perrier award winner. He has written a few books as well. Available on Amazon. Give them a go. RIP Sean (John) Hughes mate. Jah Wobble cockney slapped him a few years back. May have sent him on a downward spiral.
