Motherwell V Aberdeen

The lacking size comment annoys me. Football thoughts of about 20 years ago.

It's more like we lack general football ability, especially in midfield where during successive windows we've failed to replace jack and now we have not replaced mclean.

Add to that a succession of car crash strikers, the blame for all of which lies with mcinnes.

We've been playing shite for about 18 months now, it's nothing to do with lacking 'size' v motherwell.

Agreed it is concerning - we are never going to physically be able to stand up to Motherwell. Mcinnes keeps trying to and that is the problem, plays right into their strengths.

Couldn't agree more. Every acquisition by McInnes seems to have weakened the team rather than consolidated it. Far too many failed journeymen players in the squad. Next week's final could be a total nightmare.

These two points are interlinked.  Whoever plays up front feeds off scraps, set pieces.  We need more cutting open play.  Remember some of Mclean's through balls?  Porn.

Spot on

I'm sort of caught in the middle of what I think of our manager at the moment, but to come out with this size comment is fukin ridiculous when it's plain to see our total lack of creativity and goal threat are entirely his own and his appointed scouting departments making.

I do think considine will start and because of the current form of Forrest, it's likely he will try and counter that by playing Lowe in left midfield to double up.

Would it be a surprise if Cosgrove starts ?

Not to me, as he's got form for trying the big man up front tactic v Celtic in the past with Stockley.

As sure as night follows day, Cosgrove will start next week.

The only real conundrum next week is whether Devlin is fit,  and if he is, I've no doubt Consi will start at left back with, as you say, Lowe wide left in a midfield 4, at the expense of McGinn. Him, May and Wilson all played themselves out of a Cup Final starting place yesterday.

Dom Ball will defo start

Lewis

Logan

Devlin

McKenna

Consi

Ball

GMS

Fergie

Shinnie

Lowe

Cosgrove

If Devlin doesn't start, Consi will step into central defense, Lowe to LB and probably McGinn to left midfield

You’d love it if it was eh? Give you a chance to say you were right and try and feel all superior. Too many snakes in our support like this.

Who should we have signed that’s of equal ability of Jack and McLean?

Not being a full time scout I couldn't tell you exactly. What I could tell you is that someone like Dominic ball was not going to be good enough. Gleeson and Forrester I've no idea about as I've barely seen them but it doesn't look like they are the answer at the moment. Given that these 3 have all been identified by mcinnes and or his scouting team then questions have to be asked about their ability.

Are you suggesting that aiming to bring in footballers of equal ability to jack and mclean was unrealistic?

That line up is awful. Sadly think its what will be though.

Yeah, as much 6ft plus guys in their as possible, to make sure we have enough "size".

Set up to stay in the game for as long as possible and use set pieces as our main attacking threat in the hope of nicking a goal to give us something to hold onto.

Horrible as fuck but I'm not sure we have any other option.

Will be delighted if it works but were up against on form attacking players who are streets ahead of what hibs and rangers offered in previous rounds.
