This is exactly the kind of thing that leads to huns and others calling us "tinpot".

A serious football club simply would not allow it. At a serious club he'd know not to even ask permission to go and if he hasn't asked permission he needs to be absolutely hammered with a massive club fine.

This.  absolutely nothing professional about him doing this.  Robson is maybe speaking as well. Proper tinpot

Jesus, I'll tell you what's embarrassing.

Grown men frothing at the mouth about this sh*t.

Jonny Hayes has given a great service to the club for years , and does a lot of work for the club behind the scenes.

Tak a day aff !!

Yeah but 36 hrs before our biggest game of the season?

Seriously have zero issue with this.

just as it would be fine to see a similar Aberdeen event and, for example, mark reynolds or something showed up.

Reynolds and Fyvie have done commentary for red TV. See no different they do something next year for the 10th anniversary the league cup win with most those players are still playing.

McGinn used to regularly go and watch the tims when McInnes was manager....

If you think it's appropriate for one of our most senior players to be unnecessarily travelling 300 miles to Glasgow and back to attend a Celtic FC night 36 hours before a massive game we have then unfortunately you are a complete moron and beyond help.

Reynolds and Fyvie? They play for a club with no fans and in the same city, that is an awful comparison.

And if he puts in the level of performance that he usually gives us and maybe even scores the winner on Saturday, you'll still want him hung drawn and quartered, presumably ??

Surely you must have bigger worries in life than Hayes driving to Glasgow for a function, a couple of diet cokes and a small platter of grub fae the buffet

Presumably only 50 mls to travel on the Friday?I don't have a problem with the event itself but 36 hrs before our biggest game of the season?

Anyone who had a hissy fit about McCrorie and Ferguson attending the Europa final last year after our season was finished but don't have an issue with this is the ultimate hypocrite.

Personally don't see the issue with either. As long as Hayes turns up for training on Thursday and Friday then what he does in his spare time is up to him.

It actually would make more sense to just let him have Friday off, stay overnight in Glasgow and meet up with the rest of the squad Friday evening in their Edinburgh hotel,  than have him travel 150 miles back up the road getting home in the early hours then have to get up for training followed by a 120 mile bus journey back south in late Fri afternoon.

My only objection to the whole thing is the timing. Had it been 24 hours earlier I wouldn't have given a flying fuck. It's just the proximity time wise to what amounts to our most important match of the whole season. He would never have pulled such a stunt 2 days before a Cup Final for Celtic had there been a similar event in Aberdeen during his days with Timothy.

Time to fold the club if they mark that occasion.  Hearts and United levels of tinpottery!

If training is at Cormack Park on Friday morning then it’s not ideal being at an event in Glasgow at that time. Won’t get up the road until 1/2 latest, nae that that’s the main point or people’s issue.

It’s just a terrible look a couple of days before a massive game. Surely you’d not be that thick to know it’ll piss people off? Maybe he doesn’t care?

You can never point a finger at Hayes and question his commitment and professionalism at Aberdeen.

This is a guy who funded replacement strips for people who bought Hayes tops prior to him going to Celtic out of his own pocket.

A non story.

Also are we forgetting the delay on his wages being paid ?

Messi at psg was told no for a trip to Saudi! Did it anyway and banned for 2 games. I’m sure JH can miss this one or imo the new contract should be cancelled

If he's been told by the club not to go and then goes then yeah agree. Pretty sure the club won't have an issue with it though as long as it doesn't affect his day job.
