fatshaft
+ "they've been looking for this glory to support the old firm...." before the above line. Pure magic, and Tanner couldn't move on quickly enough from it. Link to comment
Mouse
Also said people from Ayrshire that support the old firm aren't true football supporters. It's true about Ayrshire as I was in Ayr to see Status Quo with a mate and it was the same day as QOTS v Huns, pub was full of Huns. Ayr is a shithole in general though Link to comment

Great stuff. That's up there with Stuart Cosgrove and his comment about Aberdonians feeling superior to Glasgow. "Aberdonians, and with some degree of purpose and right on their side, have absolute contempt for Glasgow. There is a side of Aberdonians who..... let's be absolutely honest about this, feel so superior to Glasgow that you could measure it by the yard". Link to comment
V for Vendetta
Pity a few more so called journalists and pundits couldn't speak such truth. I fear for Shiels though - he can expect the media to set themselves against him now, not to mention the inevitable death threads from the moronic scum. Link to comment

People from Paisley should support St Mirren, people from Motherwell should support Motherwell and people from Kilmarnock should support Kilmarnock. Henry
I'd be interested to know who Shiels supported in his days in Northern Ireland - surely it wouldn't have been Rangers or Celtic? Link to comment

When I followed the Dons in the 70's and 80's you never heard a whining weegie accent in our support. Link to comment

tup
I think this is fighting talk, magic, the power of two clubs in Scotland needs tackled before we can move forward, every manager and player for the other 10 clubs should have this mindset. Their power is self-imposed, and was not challenged, ruining our football landscape. Time to rein them in. I sense the worm is turning. Link to comment

RUL
I agree with him, but where do you draw the line, my old man was born up north and moved to edinburgh for work, I lived in the city for years but moved to fife for work, my sons are both dons fans, football also has to be a family thing. Redstar
That's different mate, totally different I'm not quite sure how it is different??....You usually find that Hun and Tim supporters in Aberdeen have a pretty strong tie with these clubs either thru father's or grandfather's....I'm pretty sure your average young lad growing up in the North East will support AFC unless he has a good reason to support either of the OF........or of course the other reason........They have been dragged along to Todders and had to sit thru the absolute shit that is on display week in week out. Oklahoma 1903
That's different mate, totally different So it's okay for someone from another city/region with ties to Aberdeen to support the Dons but not for someone from Aberdeen with family ties to Glasgow to support one of the OF. My Great Granda was from Ireland, it's a family thing... You hear it all the time. Invariably bullshit and as transparent a justification for glory hunting as you are ever likely to hear... TOTALLY different. Link to comment

As I said earlier would there be any weegies supporting AFC if the glorious 80's were removed from our history?I certainly can't recall any weegies in our support pre 80's maybe some older posters can tell me otherwise. Or can any weegie Dons fans on here tell me why they support AFC and not a local team ffs there are plenty to choose from between the weeg and Aberdeen, why Aberdeen? Link to comment
