He is probably my favourite Scottish artist and I am well aware that the vast majority won't like him. Do you have any reasoning behind yours that you can share? Not trying to convince you of anything here. Our opposing views are neither right nor wrong. One of the most fascinating aspects of the human condition for me is the vast differences in outlooks and perceptions, in particular the reasons for our differences. Just wondered if you cared to elaborate but no problem if you didn't. Can't put my finger on it, but I really find him to be unfunny, but as you've mentioned before, comedy is subjective. Something you find hilarious I might think is terrible. Think some of the stuff he's done before though just irritated me so it's put me off him completely Link to comment

Not sure it was me who said those words even though I agree that it is subjective. Most in the UK like The Office, Only Fools, Dads Army, Allo Allo, Mrs Brown's Boys etc. I can't stand these types of "comedy". It's understanding why some like and others dislike that I find interesting. I guess it comes down to expectations with Limmy. I don't see him as a comedian. Many of his detractors do. The Office is a completely different type of comedy to the others mentioned. Limmy is ok, a lot of great stuff, a decent amount of shite too. Link to comment

Geoff_Tipps
The Office is far superior to the other comedies you mentioned. Only Fools and Horses, Mrs Brown's Boys etc are fucking horrendous. Limmy on the other hand is a genius. Link to comment

The Office is terrific, Mrs Brown’s Boys is horrific, Only Fools is still eminently watchable today, and not seen as Britain’s finest sitcom for no reason. Everyone has different tastes tho. Watched Alan Partridge on Netflix the other day and had almost forgotten how good that was. Link to comment

Aye but "declared war" on an internet football forum... where we can trade insults anonymously all day long and unless someone steps over the line and posts information in a topic that reveals the true identify of a poster (which deserves a lifetime ban if ever done) then that's about as hardcore as it gets - while pissing everyone else off in the process. Hardly like getting the boys together for a square go to settle any differences is it? You and I will never see eye to eye (I'm taller than you anyhow) and while it can be a bit of fun its also pretty boring and repetitive. Link to comment

Don't complain if you didn't like the reaction. There are consequences. You are less than a handful. You all followed the same pattern. It all comes to the same end, as per the last 20+ years. And don't invoke clitoral literal when it suits you. You've got form for twisting things and spinning BIG yarns but declaring "war", grow up. Mutant. ^ dearie me RS that's beyond belief even for you! We all know you are a wind up merchant but I do honestly wonder if you believe some of the stuff you post ? Anyhow no more on the subject from me, I have a book to write and a website to build. They are just a necessary requirement, not something to cream our pants over. Was in Potarch in August, a beautiful sunny day. Had an average lunch there, won't be back. Thanks for asking and yes from talking to RS abut our mutual love of Cafe's I decided to press ahead with an idea of creating a website dedicated to where to go for good coffee in the North East and also where not to go. Decided to speak to a few publishers on the off chance that might be interested in such a venture of publishing a booklet given the current love of café culture here in the UK and they loved the idea. So loads of research to do and will be meeting with the publisher early next year along with the website going live. Did offer RS the opportunity to write the introduction but alas he passed it up. There's already more good ones than I can possibly visit regularly. Including my work and travel, I eat out or takeaway approximately 300 times p.a. with 2 or 3 a day required during the days away from home. It's still 4/5 times a week this year but unlike you, I don't shoot jetsams of jism over a cup of coffee, a product I rarely drink compared to most. 46 minutes ago, rocket_scientist said: Cafes are your thing.
