Yes but England started to see what they were up to when Corbyn got elected and the project fear will return big time with the in/out euro referendum

papers are dropping sales by the thousand on a yearly basis and will soon be irrelevant anyway

Daily Mirror – 18.8 per cent drop = from 17,489 on average during May last year, to 14,202 last month;

Daily Record – 11 per cent drop = from 210,118 on average during May last year, to 186,978 last month;

Daily Star of Scotland – 14.3 per cent drop = 43,848 to 37,597;

The Scottish Sun – ten per cent drop = 248,419 to 223,745;

Scottish Daily Express – 13.1 per cent drop = 49,747 to 43,230;

Tabloids will never be irrelevant, the daily mail is the most visited website going and I'm pretty sure the Sun has the widest readership. Also every election is 'project fear'. That's not just an obstacle the SNP deal with, in fact the SNP have their own 'project fear' anyway. In all elections all the parties attack each other with the terrible things they will do/have done.

Maybe being in England you do not see the true bias that the papers here have against the SNP

Example was front page non story that 30,000 was missing from a charity which was wrongly linked to an SNP member

yet in the same week 50,000 went missing from labour in Dugdales own constituency and also a labour msp had committed an assault and was up in court

Guess which one was front page and guess which ones were not reported

Although some will say this link is biased i would like them to point out any which they think is NOT true

But Wings is cherry picking examples to fit his 'the SNP are the tits but the establishment hate us' rhetoric. He would need to - and hasn't done - show every single tabloid paper from the day of these scandals to prove that they are all inherently bias. He is also as bias as any paper is so I'd take what he says with a serving of salt.

But he makes a mistake anyway. Tabloids aren't meant to be impartial, they are created for the owners to make money, the owners will make money printing what their readers want to read. The Sun supporting the SNP in Scotland but the Tories in England is a perfect example of this. As was the Sun flirting with supporting independence but when they realised it wasn't going to happen telling everyone to vote against it. Being angry at tabloid bias is like being angry at the sun rising in the east tomorrow, it's pointless.

The only organisation we have that shouldn't be - but are - bias is the BBC which is the real problem Scotland has.

SNP = Tartan Tories.

Snuggled up to Trump, Snuggled up to Murdoch. Senior members with close links to grouse estates. Tweed wearing Tories. Refuse to raise taxes (a tiny bit) to stop Tory cuts affecting public services.

They are not the socialist party they claim to be. Just a bunch of vote grabbing, xenophobic, single-issue, Tory mentalists.

Note that I'm not saying all Nationalists are Tories, but the SNP certainly are.

There is chronic waste in most of Scotland's councils precisely because of decades of entrenched unionism borne about by Labour rule. Public sector organisation does not adequately reflect what is needed for the demands of the 21st century. The politicians are too scared to say that because of the amount of jobs and resultantly votes that are at stake, but it is a cold, hard reality. If we were to start again with the public sector from scratch it would barely resemble what we have now.

The social care budget for example is effectively bankrupt. Take free social care; a policy brought in by the Labour Government. Very noble and admirable but also incredibly naive to think it could be paid for effectively. I don't remember Tony Blair's UK Government, nor Dewar/McLeish/McConnell raising taxes much to cover this while they were busy bankrupting the country with the Private Finance Initiative, do you?

Do you remember the "Penny for Scotland" election campaign by the SNP? It didn't go down very well with the electorate at all. Labour have zero policies because they have finally been forced to accept that mid-20th century socialism doesn't wash with the public anymore. They're in perpetual crisis and will be annihilated in May, they might even end up being the third party behind the Tories. Still, at least they've caught up with the SNP's 1999 election manifesto, so they're nearly in the right century at last. Much like your typical traditional old-school Labour voter I suppose who'd vote for a chimp in a red rosette.

Another no voter who would rather have someone else run our country

Scottish labour had the chance to help the poor but voted against it.

And here is what they say in Wales about tax rises to help the poor

so there we have it taxing Scotland is good but taxing Wales is bad as someone points out already in one of the replys

no wonder the liebour party are irrelevant in Scotland and will be wiped out come june

And onto your comment about Donald Trump It was actually Labours Jack McConnell who made Trump a Business Ambassador in Scotland

UK/European manifesto pledges from the last election

NHS - vote for an increase in health spending across the UK of £24bn by 2020, which will deliver an increase in spending to the Scottish NHS of £2bn by 2020.

Redistribution – the SNP will back a 50p tax rate, a mansion tax and a bankers’ bonus tax.

Trident – the SNP continues to oppose nuclear weapons and will seek to block the replacement of Trident, which they estimate will save £4bn by the mid-2020s.

Welfare – the SNP will seek to halt the rollout of universal credit and reverse the replacement of disability living allowance by personal independence payments, opposing the £3bn cut in disability funding, and voting for the immediate abolition of the bedroom tax.

Work – vote to increase the minimum wage to £8.70 by 2020 and crack down on zero-hours contracts.

Climate change – the party will call on the UK government to match the approach of the Scottish government with a dedicated climate justice fund.

EU referendum – proposal that there should be a double majority requirement, whereby each of the four constituent nations of the UK would have to vote for withdrawal before the UK as a whole could leave the EU.

Transatlantic trade and investment partnership – the SNP seeks an explicit exemption for the NHS and Scottish Water from the terms of the proposed TTIP.

Housing – push for a UK-wide target of 100,000 affordable homes each year, using extra investment to expand housebuilding in Scotland.

A new northern focus – the SNP will back budget plans to invest more in the infrastructure of Scotland and the north of England, including the commissioning of high speed rail linking Glasgow, Edinburgh and the north of England.

Scotland only pledges

Securing home rule – SNP MPs will demand that the proposals of the Smith commission are delivered in full and as quickly as possible, but the manifesto also states that Smith did not go far enough to honour the promises made during the referendum. The SNP will seek a phased transition to full financial responsibility, and in the meantime devolution of powers over employment policy, welfare, business taxes, national insurance and equality policy.

Media – the SNP wants responsibility for broadcasting in Scotland to transfer from Westminster to Holyrood and supports moves to more devolution for the BBC. It also seeks increased investment through BBC Scotland so that a fairer share of the licence fee is spent in Scotland.

Yup, definitely single issue, xenophobic and Toriesque...

Something tells me someone should look beyond the Daily Mail for their political analysis.

Jeez Caledonia min; I worry for you I really.

Life's passing you by whilst you waste time on this political crap.

Caledonia will avoid this thread, conveniently enough.

Maybe its because i was looking for the other side of the story which you are not capable off due to your illness

Aberdeen council led by labour have wasted millions of pounds that could have gone to local services just to spite the SNP

Example would be turning down £50 million for the gardens and then spending millions on art projects like redevelopment of the Art Gallery etc etc

But last night, a Scottish Government spokesman said: “Aberdeen City Council will receive over £14million over and above its formula funding share as a result of the new funding formula introduced by the Scottish Government in 2012.

“In addition to council funding, the Scottish Government is investing heavily in infrastructure projects in and around Aberdeen, such as the city bypass which is currently under construction.

Young condemns COUNCIL TAX freeze

The decision by the SNP Government to freeze Council Tax for the ninth consecutive year has been condemned by the Finance Convener of Aberdeen City Council.

The continuing "freeze" will result in the average Band D household saving £1,500 on their annual bill. However, Cllr. Willie Young would prefer his administration to be able to charge what they like and claimed that, by not raising the tax, the city would "lose £10-15million" in revenue. The fact is that Aberdeen City Council will receive an additional £13.1million in funding from the Scottish Government in the next financial year. The Council also currently holds around £116million in unallocated revenue reserves -- equivalent to 27% of its annual budget. It is also worth mentioning that Cllr. Young is responsible for initially voting against a revised funding formula for local government, resulting in the city losing £8million, and for taking the council out of the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA), which determines how local government funding is allocated.
