Quite clearly we have had less competition in general over the years than we could class as normal. That is all he is saying & that McInnes has done very well to be the one to capitalise on that.

 

We as Aberdeen fans do not like this truth being said because it feels like it takes something away from our consistent run of second places & our claim to be the second best team in Scotland.

Hearts have been back in the top league for three seasons now haven't they? The huns were back last season. Hibs were there in McInnes' first season and are there now. United were in the top league in McInnes' first three seasons here. He finished above them all every single time and his team is still in second place now. Compare that to Craig Brown in his last season here when the huns were in the third division.

Anyway if Hearts and Hibs and Utd were going to be playing in the top flight at full strength in your imaginary world. Who would be playing for them that aren't currently playing for team with similar attendances (Utd v Motherwell) etc.
