The Ryan Fraser Clause

Recommended Posts

Have a feeling the likes of Everton or Newcastle will bid for him next week. Only a year left on his contract you would think a few clubs would at least chance their hand with a 10-15 million bid.

Unless Bournemouth get another winger in with the limited time available to them he's not going anywhere. Especially with Brookes out for 3 months.

But you never know in the circus that is english football.

Dutch winger Arnaut Groeneveld supposed to be undergoing medical with a 14 million deal agreed for him with Club Brugge.

And they are rumoured to have offered Liverpool 25 million for their young winger Harry Wilson.

Not sure they will be bothered financially but they will not want Fraser if they are both wingers. I thought Wilson played more centrally?

Wilson is a striker, but the new boy from Bruge is a winger who operates on hte left like Fraser.

That said, Fraser's versatility has also seen him play RB for Bournemouth at one point.

That article was shite...said the square root of fuck all.

I take what the Daily Mail says with a pinch of salt. It's a Tory newspaper and that's enough for me.

Surely to fuck some of the epl clubs will have a dabble at £10m for Fraser this week.

So cheap compared to some of the foreign signings these clubs make which always carry an element of risk (settling in country, adapting to english game etc)

No way on earth would Bournemouth sell him for £10m when they know at least 20% of that money is coming our way. Im pretty sure they'd rather keep him and lose him for nothing next summer.

Why would they rather lose him for nothing, therefore losing 80% of a good transfer fee?

Because Bournemouth surviving in the the EPL is worth far more to them than £10million. Last season they were comfortably mid-table and a good part of them doing so was because of Fraser's goals and assists. £10million is peanuts to clubs in the EPL.

They'll then have to replace him next summer though.

Yes but selling him now means they'd have to replace him now. Bear in mind as Premier league players go he's likely to be on one of the lowest wages around. If they got £15 million for him now, just to replace him adequately from another English club is going to cost them probably more fee wise.....given how little time there is to go in the window, selling clubs can ask for higher fees as they've got so little time themselves to source a replacement. Even if the replacement is from a Championship club, he's very likely to  be on higher wages than Fraser already. So getting another year out of him but losing him for free works out far better cost wise as long as he helps them remain in the EPL.

If he does go...….wouldn't surprise me to see them try to replace him with Forrest from the Dhims.
