Clydeside_Sheep
More than half a million more Scots have been vaccinated currently, than would have been the case if we were in the EU vaccination scheme the SNP favoured. The Tories said 174,826 vaccines would have been administered in Scotland, based on the average roll-out rate across the EU of only 3.2 doses per 100 people. This compares with the 694,347 Scots who had received their first dose, a difference of 519,521 people. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2021/02/04/500000-fewer-scots-would-have-vaccinated-now-eu-scheme-backed/ And Vaccinations per 100 people (Feb 2nd data) UK 15.5 Spain 3.77 Italy 3.69 Germany 3.24 France 2.53 Slovakia 3.28 Slovakia is a comparator to Indy Scotland in the EU, as EU vaccine distribution is on a population basis and Scotland and Slovakia have the same population. Source: Our World in Data As it stands, the main hindrance in Scotland's corona virus fight is not the UK, the toooaarreeeez, or Boris Johnstone, but the SNP administration. And we can clearly see the SNP always put pandering to the EU ahead of the good of Scots. Link to comment

Its for the existing the mutations that they know about. No idea if it will be effective against any future ones. My guess would be no in at least some cases and will require further adjustments further down the line. My bet is that they'll need to make the covid vaccination programme an annual one, but logistically and economically it wouldn't be viable to do the whole population year in year out. Likely same groups targeted as they do with the flu vaccine My bet is he's very good at pleasuring himself Isn’t everyone? Link to comment

Our modelling suggests there will be an enduring reduction in human contact" Grim stuff. It says that is when ppl think they are infections, but you raise a good point. This episode probably will change some people's behaviour, but its important to know no politician has the authority, power or resource to impose such change on us. People themselves are the only ones who can change their own behaviour. There's no doubt that part of the last year has been about trying to "train" the population to be fearful, to behave in certain ways and to be biddable by politicians. Its interesting that, today, many people only have one unchallenged source of input - the mainstream media, which makes it easy to influence their opinions and behaviours. Sure, there is some nuance - left or ring wing etc - but only around the same point. 2+ generations ago, people would imbibe a much larger range of differing information and so would be able to sift various info and come to a more informed perspective. Beyond a radio, households didnt have any incoming info stream and so they would discuss events more among themselves - family, neighbours, colleagues - encountering different views and different perspectives. People read a lot more then, all manner of stuff - the famous trade unionist Jimmy Reid was famous as a kid and young man for never being out of Elder Park library. I remember him in a documentary talking of his realsiation that he must make the most of this vast amount of free and varied information. Even I am old enough to remember large, well stocked public libraries - I went every saturday morning and it was always busy. Sure, a lot of info is online, but so is a lot of free porn, so what will win? lol Libraries then had everything, even music and computer games. Nowadays libraries are more "community hubs" than actual libraries. The Coatbridge (Carnegie) Library I knew as a boy would shit bigger than the Bishopbriggs Library available to my kids. My childhood library is now defunct, they turned it into flats, which was a disgrace as the library was a gift to the people of the town, not the wanker labour cooncillors who sold it off. In previous generations, people were more likely to belong to a faith group, a fraternal organisation, a trade union or a political party etc - here they would encounter alternative views to elsewhere, all helping to inform and build their perspective. But all these things have now declined markedly, or have been brought to heel to some degree by the mainstream media. The result of these changes I think is a population which is information hungry but, as many people only have one source, it makes for an easily impressionable and biddable population. In fact we can actually see that social effect clearly currently, with the rise in SNP support tallying with Sturgeons blanket coverage on TV for the past year. 1 2 2 Link to comment
