You may find this hard to believe, but I'm a prepper who is convinced that there will be some kind of civilisation-ending catastrophe... for example a nuclear war started by a bald, Russian shortarse who needs a good fucking kicking. And when Putin starts mobilising an army of 150,000 troops in Europe, runs drills in EVERY Russian Fleet, and simultaneously runs widespread nuclear drills... you can see how all that shit might push my buttons. 

I've added Magnesium to my supplement stacks, though, so mentally I've been a little more balanced in the last week or two, but that hasn't stopped me adding several months of food and water purification/filtration to my stockpile... you know... just in case some hotshot decides to shoot down an SU35 or an F-15. 

From a logical standpoint I'm 95% certain nothing too bad is going to happen, but my primeval monkey-brain is constantly screaming "WE'RE ALL GOING TO FUCKING DIE!" 

And that's a trigger for me, you see? 

I mean, it's okay for you cunts... a sub-megaton explosion above UTG is killing every last one of you in the first hour of a nuclear exchange. I plan on surviving this and creating a new and better society. One with no shortarse Russians or Huns.

You live in a city with a deep water port, that would certainly be used to service NATO warships in the event of a conflict. There's a good sized airport that would be utilised for air patrols and sorties into the North Sea. A heliport that's one of the most active in Europe, and an agricultural and industrial infrastructure that could be used to supply food and material to any prolonged war in Europe. You also are the base of operations for servicing the oil and gas industry, which would be a prime target if someone wanted to cripple O&G production critical to the war effort. 

I'm thinking it would be worth the effort to drop at least a ~500 kiloton warhead somewhere near the Castlegate.

It's the only way to be sure.

At some point I'd like to excavate a shelter up in the higher part of the property, away from the main building. I have a spot mostly cleared out in the woods where there used to be a shed. Could be used as a den o wanking in peacetime, and a bomb shelter in time of war. 

Would be terrible if the wife was off shopping in the nearest town when the alarms went off... that would force me to go snatch the Asian bird from the post office in order to repopulate the planet. 

That would be terrible.

Time in bunker is about 2 weeks, by which time background radiation is massively reduced. 

After 3 months most of the radioactive dust in the atmosphere should be dissipated, at which point you can be out and about and rocking your self-sufficiency skills. 

No nuclear winter to worry about either... there won't be one. 

People still think a nuclear exchange will be like it would have been in the Cold War... it won't. 

Totally survivable if you have a reasonably isolated place to ride it out.
