thedandydon
Clubs have voted to introduce this during next seasons campaign (mid-season for some reason). https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/60987568 Thoughts? Link to comment
NEM
Gads. Standby for every goal or tackle in the box against the scum to be examined for the slightest infringement while contentious calls the other way are deemed not worth looking at. Either get foreign VAR operators or get VAR in the bin. 3 Link to comment
Andy_123
VAR will be an absolute farce up here. Instead of complaining about the refs getting things wrong in real time, we'll just be complaining about them getting it wrong watching it on the screen. It will just be used to give Celtic and Rangers even more decisions than they already get. 2 Link to comment
Ke1t
It's a good idea, though it likely won't stop the Sevco/Celtic bias. It'll expose it further, but none of the authorities or clubs in Scotland will give a fuck. Our clubs have been bending over for them for so long it's all they know how to do. Link to comment
thurso
Var is a great idea on paper but as has been said the Scottish refs inside the truck won’t change their minds, they will just cheat the same or be scared of a riot. Could you imagine the reaction inside ibrox at the start of the season when cheating Beaton gave the penalty against bates it it was overturned by var the orc’s in the stands would of rioted. The sfa will do anything to stop that and use var as justification on why the refs are right not to overturn blatantly wrong decisions Link to comment

DandyWarhol
Resigned to this happening now but fear it will be a shitshow. VAR could be good if used sensibly for clear errors, rather than spending 2 mins checking if someone is 1mm offside. Expecting more penalties and decisions to go the way of huns & tims, and for there to be loads of errors still. 1 Link to comment
perthshirered
You just know that every minor event in a game with Rangers or Celtic willl be reviewed but Ross County v St Mirren they won't bother their arse. 1 Link to comment
Betty Swallicks
It'll be a fucking shambles up here. The BITB will now have a scapegoat. It'll be good for the millermong types who don't understand the rules and watch on tv as it'll give them some extra excitement and the huns will get even more given their way. Link to comment
Jigsaw666
Does this mean there will be more cameras at the games then? Or will they be making decisions based on the rubbish angles we get on Sportscene? 1 Link to comment

It'll be shite as very few stadiums with big screens so when its getting reviewed the crowd will have no idea what its for. Link to comment
Forever Red
Hate VAR with a passion. I'm heading towards wrapping football altogether (that might change if we get good again) 1 Link to comment

Oh wait , they could do it over the PA. Problem solved Betty. Put yer knickers back on. 1. You can barely make oot the song being played at Pittodrie. 2. The ref getting mic'd up is he? 3. Shoosh ye gleck. Link to comment
Bamber
Honest question where does var go? main stand side doesn’t work too high and advertising boards. South stand side would imagine you need a gap of supporters and the track isn’t that big. Pretty much the same in front of the ends that leaves corners merkland/ main is ambulance route main/rdl possible. Rdl south? In front of a baying away support? South/merk possible. So I guess south merk corner and main rdu corner? Link to comment

So I guess south merk corner and main rdu corner? You are imagining the full system that they have in the EPL. This will be Var Lite. There are only 4 basic cameras that they claim can be set up in 45 minutes. There is no monitor at the side of the pitch. Big screens are irrelevant for this. There is someone sitting in the main stand with an ipad, that is it. They can watch something back on the software but it is limited. There will be no offside lines, for example. It will barely function, other than whether the ball is over the line or a foul is inside or outside the box. It will quickly be deemed useless and conspiracy theories will abound. Link to comment
CCB III
The worst outcome possible for match going fans. Wide as fuck for the clubs to not even ask supporters their thoughts on the issue. How many stadiums can show replays etc on a screen so we all know what's going on? It's one thing our league had going for it, that it was a bit of a throwback and quite far removed from the Hollywood pish you sometimes see in England. Link to comment
AllyDon
Might as well start a thread now VAR What a Joke January 2023 It will be needed. Only be an advantage to 2 clubs to have goals disallowed against them or penalties given to them. Link to comment
fine-n-dandy
Only current/former A listed refs can do VAR. we have an abundance of retired A listed refs itching to get back & assist their teams. Link to comment

Thats where the camera's come in. For the home viewers at least!! Zooming into the wee monitors the refs looking at, but if its a decision against either arse cheeks the camera will show the back of the refs heed or blurred if he's stood at side of monitor.... ? Sheltered to avoid the coins from away fans should any audacious ref turn over a decision and take away a hun penalty. Link to comment
