VAR in the SPFL

Recommended Posts

VAR will be an absolute farce up here.

Instead of complaining about the refs getting things wrong in real time, we'll just be complaining about them getting it wrong watching it on the screen.

It will just be used to give Celtic and Rangers even more decisions than they already get.

It's a good idea, though it likely won't stop the Sevco/Celtic bias.

It'll expose it further, but none of the authorities or clubs in Scotland will give a fuck.

Our clubs have been bending over for them for so long it's all they know how to do.

Var is a great idea on paper but as has been said the Scottish refs inside the truck won’t change their minds, they will just cheat the same or be scared of a riot.

Could you imagine the reaction inside ibrox at the start of the season when cheating Beaton gave the penalty against bates it it was overturned by var the orc’s in the stands would of rioted.

The sfa will do anything to stop that and use var as justification on why the refs are right not to overturn blatantly wrong decisions

VAR-Lite we are getting.

Cheap option. It'll be shite as very few stadiums with big screens so when its getting reviewed the crowd will have no idea what its for.

144p resolution at 6 frames a second, and an automatic 'Decision for Sevco/Celtic' function in the case of the important calls.

Honest question where does var go?

main stand side doesn’t work too high and advertising boards. South stand side would imagine you need a gap of supporters and the track isn’t that big. Pretty much the same in front of the ends

that leaves corners merkland/ main is ambulance route main/rdl possible. Rdl south? In front of a baying away support? South/merk possible. So I guess south merk corner and main rdu corner?

You just know that every minor event in a game with Rangers or Celtic willl be reviewed but Ross County v St Mirren they won't bother their arse.

Ref in the Ross County v St Mirren game, "Can you just check and see if contact was in or outside the box".  VAR ref "Err, sorry, we're watching the Rangers game".

You are imagining the full system that they have in the EPL.

This will be Var Lite. There are only 4 basic cameras that they claim can be set up in 45 minutes. There is no monitor at the side of the pitch. Big screens are irrelevant for this. There is someone sitting in the main stand with an ipad, that is it. They can watch something back on the software but it is limited. There will be no offside lines, for example. It will barely function, other than whether the ball is over the line or a foul is inside or outside the box. It will quickly be deemed useless and conspiracy theories will abound.

The worst outcome possible for match going fans. Wide as fuck for the clubs to not even ask supporters their thoughts on the issue.

How many stadiums can show replays etc on a screen so we all know what's going on?

It's one thing our league had going for it, that it was a bit of a throwback and quite far removed from the Hollywood pish you sometimes see in England.

Thats where the camera's come in. For the home viewers at least!!

Zooming into the wee monitors the refs looking at, but if its a decision against either arse cheeks the camera will show the back of the refs heed or blurred if he's stood at side of monitor....

the personnel will probably be in a portages cabin in the car but fair point , where do they put all the cameras that are required

In the purpose built VAR viewing section of our new stadium by the beach.

Only club in Scotland equipped with all singing all dancing tech.

Sheltered to avoid the coins from away fans should any audacious ref turn over a decision and take away a hun penalty.
