Hearts 5 - 0 Aberdeen

Recommended Posts

These games tend to go the way of the home team we haven't won at Tynecastle since 2017 and Hearts not won at Pittodrie since 2016. We also play at Hampden 3 days before this game which isn't ideal.

A draw would be a good result but with our horrendous away record and with the way these games have gone in recent years a loss is more likely.

It'll be a good game but we're better than them.

Duk > Shankland

Shinnie > Snodgrass

McCrorie > Halliday

Clarkson > McKay

Coulson > Cochrane

The only ones in their team who I'd bother my arse about are the two centre halves Rowles & Kingsley, but it's hardly worth wetting the bed over.

1-2 the dandies.

Not sure about Coulson over Cochrane

Before the World Cup break yes, but he has faded a bit.

Some geek on kickback looked up stats. Yutaro Oda the 3rd fastest player in Japan's top league. If at the world cup, he'd have been the 5th fastest player there using recorded fastest speeds.

Him plus Kuol by the time you boys visit - how fast are Stewart and Scales? Alongside Scotland's top scorer, Shanks.

3-1 to Gorgie. (I rate Duk so can see you nicking a goal.) Although knowing Goodwin, you'll try to man mark in MF, get pulled everywhere, loads of space, could be more. McKay due a turn and better at home. Think this is a game for him. Goodwin will over worry bout Snodgrass.

Robbie's style is to try to take the lead then counter so can see the pace coming on if / when we're in front.

If we beat St Mirren at home before this game, a win v Aberdeen will see us go 9 points clear. We won't blow that chance and will also want to go into the cup game vs Lochend Celtic on a high.

Looking forward to this one under the lights.

So there's my prediction. Score and how the game will go.

Fucking repulsive club, horrible hun bastards

2-0 Hearts

Do You Remember The Fergie Years FC

You've won a Sponsors Cup since 1990. Over 30 years of meh. Even with seasons with no Rangers, Hearts, Hibs in the top league you did nothing.

Arguing against that summary is like saying you accept it.

We're bursting out our stadium. Sold all 15.5k STs available and a waiting list of 2.5k. How's the 16k stadium plans?

We're profitable. Aberdeen loss making.

If you can't see a gulf opening up between us and Aber-Hibs, you're not paying attention.

I know. It's almost like you don't have to beat the same clubs to win the League Cup and the Scottish Cup. And it's almost like Celtic and Sevco don't go flat out to win both domestic cups every single season (the stats prove that they do). Maybe Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid enter the Scottish Cup each season to make it harder to win than the League Cup and I just missed it. Silly me 🤷🏻

Bottom line is we have actually won a major trophy more recently than Hearts have. So have Hibs. Just a fact. And season ticket sales pretty irrelevant when we still average 15k+ we have far more walk up sales than Hearts. On one hand Hearts fans eventually expect to compete with Celtic and Sevco despite respectively having 40k and 30k less fans per home game yet on the other hand they think that clubs with maybe 3k less home fans than them won't be able to compete with them? 🤷🏻 They truly are a very strange breed. Bang on about average attendances until they are in the company of Celtic and Sevco fans then miraculously attendances don't seem to get brought up. Yet they still expect to compete with them. A very peculiar lot I guess only winning 3 major trophies in the last 60 years (Hibs have won more in that period) does that to you.

Every major league set up in Europe has a league title competition and a national football association cup. Any additional cups are historically late introductions, usually from sponsors, and are therefore traditionally valued less by clubs, and fans. As we see in England with teams and players selected, and attendances. No real football fan if asked which one would you like to see your club win, would answer I'm not bothered, either suits me. None.

That's different from total indifference. Yes I'd like us to win it. But don't make out it's got the same gravitas as the Scottish Cup. That's just silly.

As for our ambitions. I've said on here, 3rd is a real prize now. Financially. And that there's still a gulf to the Glasgow pair. But, i applaud us looking up the way and making the right noises to challenge. That's why finances and scale matter. In a larger stadium (if) with 20k season tickets (Sheffield Utd kind of numbers to give context), FOH money, Europe money and Anderson, we're still a long way from those two, but generating enough to hope one or both have a bad season, even once. And we're placed to take advantage. And maybe do a Leicester. Clubs like us either say no chance, and fans damn us for no ambition. Or say we want to challenge, and get called delusional. I prefer the latter.

Just like the Scottish Cup. We keep knocking. We've been in 3 of the last 4 finals, losing only to the Glasgow two in all 3. You've been in one final since your last final previous in 1999-2000. One. In the last 22 finals. We can all band stats about.

Achieving very little yourselves but knocking our ambitions, cup knock outs, etc is VERY Hibs. Little neighbours. Don't worry about us as much as sorting out what is now generation after generation failure at Aberdeen. I'm old enough to think of players I hated at Aberdeen cos they were hard / or talented. Even if not glamour names. Brian Irvine. Stewart McKimmie. Brian Grant. Lee Richardson. Duncan Shearer. Theo Snelders. Hans Gilhaus. Even Charlie Nicholas. Can't say any of your teams in recent years have a single name I would put in that company.

No-one has said the League Cup is as prestigious or as historic as the Scottish Cup. It isn't. But you try and make out as if the Scottish Cup is somehow tougher to win. Newsflash it isn't because in Scotland (mostly due to compete Glasgow domination and bragging rights between the two i.e quadruple trebles etc etc) they go all out to win both domestic cups as history proves. Both are major trophies you have to beat the same teams to prevail yet you try and make out the League Cup isn't a major trophy which is very disingenuous of you so no wonder you often get treated with contempt. Hearts fans turned up in their droves to the League Cup semi at Murrayfield against Celtic the other year so they were obviously desperate to win it. So spare us all with the "it's not a significant trophy" bullshit. It's one of only 2 major trophies Hearts can win. You know it and I know it. You've only won 3 in 60 years. So stop talking shite. We have won a major trophy more recently than Hearts. That is a stone cold fact.

I'm not knocking you or Hearts' ambition I couldn't give a flying fuck I concentrate on Aberdeen hence why I post on an Aberdeen forum and not on a Hearts one. I'm calling you out on the sheer utter hypocrisy of you saying you hope Hearts can somehow win the league (despite Celtic having on average around 1 million more fans through their gates for home games every season than what Hearts have) yet in the same breath you are saying clubs with 2k or 3k less fans per week than Hearts can no longer compete with them? If you can't see the utter hypocrisy in what you are saying you are beyond help.
