E-P-K
La Parmigiana in the west end of weegieville, shared a Chateaubriand, to this day my greatest eating experience. Link to comment
barassie_afc
In your neck of the woods, Chapeltoun House but it's no longer and was before your day. Someone was saying how poor the restaurants are in Abz and I would have to agree with that. Favourite of all time - other than in rural France obviously - was Chinois in Toorak, Melbourne. The French word for Chinese, it was literally a French/Chinese cross. Difficult to imagine, I know, but very original and unbelievable class. Dublin eateries are fantastic. They have to be given the competition but the Elephant & Castle and The Trocadero are worth booking the cheap ryanair flights from Abz for alone. Fav restaurant in the past, aye, going back 30 years was Pinnochio opposite Justice Mill baths. That's where I got into dining out. christ rocket my old dear used to rave about chapeltoun house , we do have a michelin star place in Dalry , bonkers I know Link to comment

boboisared
Chateaubriand last July in Majorca. Best cut of meat I've ever had. So good we went back to the same restaurant two days later on my birthday. It's lovely. Didn't have much room for the potatoes though! Link to comment
barassie_afc
Used to use O Sole Mio in centre weeg a lot, and the Amber Regent. they never let us down. Dining in Tuscany, now THAT is class. Doesn't matter if it's a pizza or a veal meal, everything there is incredibly good. Amber Regent is a staple, Ho Wong isnt bad but in bad part of town. For those Aberdonians, for such an affluent place why so many poor restaurants ? Link to comment
E-P-K
Lanzarote, Puerto Del Carma, 15 months ago, had a fantastic Chateaubriand, just nae as good as La Parmigiana , weather was better tho. Link to comment

Slimfella
Can't remember the name of the best restaurant I've been in. The most interesting was having frogs legs in a chinese restaurant in Soho. Bar sur Aube was where the restaurant was that made the best duck confit I;Ve ever had, washed down with a Margeaux that was from 1970, was f**king ages ago like the wine was 990 francs, so at least 12 year ago....wasn't me paying for it , no idea the name of it, was an English wifie who owned it. Went to Bunchrew house hotel in Inverness for a weekend, that was nice. The Chefs offering/amuse bouche was lobster with caviar. He came out and went round the tables asking if they enjoyed the meal, top fella. We could over hear when he went to this table with an american family on it, "So how was everything?" Wifie says "I liked the meal but I didn't like the lobster you made" "Oh really? How come" "I just don't like the taste of how you did it" like it was his fault that lobster tastes the way it does anyway. "Oh right." with a look of; blame f**king God for how lobster tastes, it was plain lobster tail FFS. Twas just lobster with f**k all on it, it even said taste of the sea of summat? So you don't like lobster then. It was tantamount to giving someone a strawberry poptart out of the toaster, "did you like that?"....."Nah not really not the way you did it", "what do you mean, I only put it in the toaster"...."Aye but I don't like the taste of how you did it" WTF should I have boiled the poptart then? barassie_afc
Yes indeed. It was a house of poofery. They did know how to produce an exquisite dining experience. ffs small world , shame it closed sounded a hit but once the 90s hit probably shut due to economy , the one in Dalry seems to be good not been but its held a star for a number of years Link to comment
barassie_afc
First lobster in Bute, Rothesay was awesome. We get lobster locally here a couple of times a year. Last one in a restaurant was The Tolbooth in Stoney. I HATE that place. It was my second and last time and trust me, it is possible to f**k up a lobster. They did it royally. explain , catch , cook serve , i can do it Link to comment
Ke1t
Probably some place in Paris. the food there, bar one time, is first rate. Worst I ever got was right here in the States... although I've been told in no uncertain terms by someone I've never met that there's no way the worst meal I've ever had was a bad meal. So that was me telt. Link to comment
barassie_afc
Two in St Andrews worth a mention. The Vine Leaf and Nahm Jimh / Lorient. Fantastic dining. the vine leaf did well on that ramsay thingy i have a stagger there in sept , i might tempt the more refined there Link to comment

So that was me telt. Paris is ace for tuck. Got of the train/metro fitiver (after giving all my change to some deformed wifie singing and begging pulling herself along on a bit of wood with coasters on it...seeing her get off the stop before we did and handing it all over to some guy who got off at the same stop ) to Place du charles de gaul, walked along the street that leads to the Arc du Triomph (sp?), found a chinese, it was magic. Although thought I was being clever trying to order in cantonese (the 1st missus was with me) the waiter talked back to me in english with a glaswegian accent . The guy was from Thurso originally or summat and was working in his uncles restaurant in Paris. Got slagged off the rest of the day as previous 'er indoors was from King's Park Link to comment

RAZOR
Worldwide it has to be in Louisiana. Seafood platter to start followed by Gumbo then onto sausage creold for the main course. Phew Lord that is one top meal.In Aberdeen the best I've been to is Ya Thai, perhaps the best suishi I've ever tasted. Link to comment
bonzodaddy73
The Glenmoriston Hotel in inverness is top notch. I had some sort of mushroom soup that was the most delicious thing I ever tasted. Also the most expensive I've ever tasted. I think it was like Link to comment
RAZOR
Best in the Weeg would be Mister Sings Indian (as recommended to R_S a few weeks back), was in there not so long ago and it was quality albeit on the pricey side. Full of photos of Huns in there though given it's their curry house of choiceGood curry or not,why in gods name would you put yourself through that? Link to comment

RAZOR
It'd have to be an awesome, awesome curry to justify putting up with that level of Hunnery but it really was that good. All the toilets are downstairs down a wee narrow staircase, I admit I let the side down by not asking if they fitted a special stairlift for David Murray's visits Double Rainbow Link to comment

I definitely couldn't do it. Every time you glance around as you rip your nan to pieces a Hun c**t that you detest is staring back down at you from the decor. No way. Do they do liver bri? Slimfella
Brainwave. Just been in the loft blew the dust off a madhur jaffrey book and a karaoke machine. I'm calling this new restaurant "Gupta Singh" What do you reckon? Link to comment
The Boofon
Best meal was probably while in Cuba a couple of years back. Not just the food (which was incredible) but the whole ambience of the place, the service, the lack of irritating yanks on holiday that you get with other countries in the area, the wine that accompanied the meal and the big f**k off cigar and Mojitos that followed the meal. Locally the Fife Arms in Turriff is tremendous. Link to comment
