K-9
we have the best, most experienced managers this club can ever hope to get.....if these boys fail. it tells us more about the club than ever before. To be fair Brown doesn't have much of a record at all at club level and next to no record in transfer market. Archie on other hand has seen and done it all at all levels. Together they most certainly should be good enough, no excuses. Link to comment

I'd agree with that. You have to remmeber though Broon had the pick of the best scottish players when manager of scotland. With us he has to wheel and deal to get the squad looking anything like what he feels he needs to become successful. I think we really need patience here. It's gonna take time to dispose/recruit players. Link to comment

Stoney
its the wrong way round! Doest make a differance which way round you have it, proves the differance between club and international is massive. Browns managerial record is sketchy at best. Seemed to do alright last time he took over a mcghee team at motherwell, just seems like an excuse for failure before the season even starts for me. Link to comment

Jute
This transfer window is a carbon copy of the one mcghee had last summer! That's what I find concerning. Brown looks like committing the same mistakes the previous clown made. Link to comment

Judge him and the new players / team when we kick a ball...not weeks before the new season even begins! Link to comment
afc_blockhead
Posting a link to an online story where brown was talking through the hole in his arse again? Talking out the hole in his arse by making a statement that a team that is comprised mainly of people he didnt sign isnt strictly his team yet ? He didnt follow this up with any comments about the coming season , its not an excuse its a fact . I cant believe this bitterness stems from you supporting McGhee ! Link to comment

The signings he has made are of higher quality than Mcghees2. He hasn't yet finished his signings? Link to comment
Foster14
First and foremost, yet again, I don't know why people put reliance on any printed media where you do not get the context of the reason in which something is said. As it has already been alluded to in the thread, it would be most likely that the quote would be the answer to a question along the lines of "Do you think this is now your team?" or something along that lines. The only bit of concern to me is that he seems to suggest that we are saying it is his team. Almost like he is setting up a slight divide between us and the management team, but it will depend entirely on the context of how the subject was brought up. Nope - he inherited half a team after half the squad left prior to appointment then was given pennies to replace loads of outgoing players with just 3 (1 keeper). Inherited a dressing room with attitiude and in first season McGhee's main "mistake" was trying to instill some professionalism into the players and unsurprisingly banning midweek drinking (i.e. Mcdonald having stag night 4 days before biggest game of season and Kerr getting his face smashed in), taking players in on Sundays if team is pants on Saturday and generally reigning players in, had half the dressing room turning against him from word go. Last summer was when McGhee needed judging and no doubt he made mess of that one. No doubt indeed, but he certainly deserved in to the season for that judging to be passed. I think Brown, and his team, is being judged too far in advance and getting written off in some quarters. When there is still 55 days in which to build a squad. The debate on when the squad needs to be put in place has been done to death though. It is difficult from a fan perspective, a lot don't want to invest in a season ticket if this season is going to be a repeat of the previous few. Seems some have decided they won't be going back whatever though, and jumping on absolutely anything they can to back it up. Link to comment
tup
Spot on. Those using Browns international experiance obviously have no idea how differant club and international management are. See Fabio Capello for proof. Nonsense. Fabio Capello cannot speak English, which is why he struggles badly as manager of the England national team. Football is a game of 11 players versus 11 players, at both club and international level, there is absolutely no difference, other than the selection criteria. Link to comment

tup
I see no differance in the first 10 games under mcghee to the last 10 under brown, Apart from us being a little worse in the last 10 games. Here's one. The first 10 games under McGhee were the beginning of a supposed new era of all out attacking football by the swashbuckling and charismatic McGhee. Reality? It was clear, immediately, that he was way out of his comfort zone. Capitulations left, right and centre, tactically inept, fell out with everyone, and wanted to manage Celtic but made do with us. Brown, last 10 games .These games did not matter. Nothing games. Maybe for a bit of actual comparison you could look at his first ten games, and compare his record to McGhee on that basis, which will further highlight the complete rubbish you are spouting off constantly about our manager. McGhee never got any money because it was clear he was a clown who had his head up his arse. No wonder you seem to like him. Link to comment
