In fact i'd say if someone like you was leading the board then our club would be in admin within 2 seasons.

Im not sure what you are expecting of the guys who he has taken is so far, an injury prone midfielder a fourth string keeper who hasnt played first team football in a long time and a central defender which looks like the new jerel ifil. And chris clark a player who i have had the misfortune of watching for 6 or 7 seasons

 

If these players are being taken in as cover then thats great, but we are seriously lacking quality in all positions and the signings he has made dont appear to be any improvment on what we let go last year.

Back on topic, kinda, where is this marquee signing we were being promised by Brown? I hope we do get someone who will put a bit of excitement into the fans and the squad. I would like to think Brown was given some of the money from Maguire to use.... but wouldn't bet on it.

No deals will be done until late this month or August min, just the lie of the land I'm afraid.

 

What we have kicking about now, in terms of free agents and the like, is not worth recruiting, and I include Gavin Rae in that.

 

Players who have no club at the moment are generally pish.

Tell me at which point last season we had a senior squad consisting of 35 players and I'll give up the argument.

 

The number is so high due to a few youngstars making an appearance or two (Low, Grimmer, Fraser, Anderson etc) as well as loanees - some of whom weren't here for the full season - as well as a few stop-gaps due to the exceptional long-term injury list. ifil and Velicka were binned, with Smith, Blackman and McNamee brought in later

 

If we have 8 first teamers out again at some point next season, there's a chance we will do the same again.

 

We do not need a first team squad of 30 though.

 

 

We COULD have one if we wanted, but they'd ALL be dross.

 

I prefer 22, with at least a few good players thrown in.

22 would be ok if it never included Paton, Jack, Robertson and a few other untried and untested kids who succumbed to Turriff United just 2 months ago.

We used all that players last season because towards the end of it Hartley, Mackie, Fyvie, McNamee, McArdle, Pawlett, Folly, Considine were all injured!!

 

Also of that 35 players how many were of the Ryan Fraser/ Mitch Megginson type that McGhee played a couple of games then dumped back to the U19's.......or loaned out in Meggys case or Low and Anderson who made fleeting sub appearances under Broon?

I agree wont be enough coming in - that is the point.

 

And in that case we will struggle badly as soon as any kind of injuries kick in.

Did Brown not want to keep Aluko, McGuire & Diamond anyway, then add Milsom, Clark, Mawene & Gonzalez n you practically have your team. He still needed a left back regardless and another striker, so he's practically got his OWN team.
