A valuable bronze plaque to commemorate the Queen Mother’s 80th birthday has been stolen by thieves.

Police officers are appealing for information after the item, which was part of a memorial garden in Aberdeen, was stolen.
The theft from the city’s Hazelhead Park is thought to have taken place 4pm on Friday September 13 and 8am on Monday September 16.
Aberdeen’s Lord Provost George Adam has also made a personal appeal for the return on the plaque.
The item at the city's Hazlehead Park was unveiled by the Queen Mother in 1980 to commemorate her 80th birthday.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: "The plaque is an important part of the Queen Mother Memorial Garden and we are appealing to members of the public to come forward if they have any information about the theft."
Mr Adam described it as a "particularly despicable theft".

Has anyone on here been asking for advice on how to remove or put up plaques? :sherlock:

Eight people have been taken into custody following a police operation recovered six cars stolen from Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

A police helicopter was used as part of the crackdown.

Seven males aged 15, 16, 17, 21, 22, 25 and 33 and a woman aged 18 were detained. Police said the vehicles were valued at about £70,000 in total.

Officers from CID, roads policing, local police teams and the dogs unit were also involved in the operation.

Det Supt Martin Dunn said: "This operation involved the specialist resources of Operation Ruby, which was launched to tackle car crime in the city.

"Police Scotland has listened to the communities across the north east who have highlighted that car crime is a key priority for them.

"The use of the force helicopter and other specialist resources allowed officers to target key areas with the result that vehicles were recovered and persons apprehended."

He added: "I want to reassure the public that we will continue to target car crime and will deploy specialist resources where appropriate.

"However, I also want to appeal to people to ensure that vehicles and properties are kept secure in order to deter opportunistic thieves who want to steal your vehicles."

Around 30 tonnes of rail has been stolen from a railway yard in Aberdeen.

Thieves took the rail, worth several thousand pounds, from Kittbrewster Retail Park sometime between 4am and 5am on Tuesday.
It is thought they would have had to use an articulated heavy goods vehicle to take the metal.
Officers from British Transport Police (BTP) have been looking at CCTV and carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the area to try and track down the thieves.
Constable Ashley Forbes said: "A lorry, which may have been involved, was seen driving off on Bedford Road and Powis Place.
"Which, even at this time of the morning, is a busy route in and out of the city centre. I am appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time, particularly pedestrians or taxi drivers, and who may have noticed someone acting suspiciously to contact BTP."

Has anyone on here been asking to borrow a HGV recently? :sherlock:
