Tommy
Going back to that small discussion on here about maintenance costs - stadiums for the World Cup estimated at £2.3m-£5.7m a year http://www.dw.com/en/who-will-pay-for-russias-oversized-world-cup-stadiums/a-43350611 From such information I can only take that the idea of saving money from Pittodrie maintenance costs is incorrect. Are those estimated costs not between 7 stadiums? Panda
The travel plan states: "Free shuttle buses to transport supporters from the City Centre and Park and Ride sites at Kingswells, Dyce and Bridge of Don." The detailed shuttle bus timetable then states the City Centre pickups as Rose Street, College Street and Shiprow. That travel plan is away to be ripped up though. Chances are this new travel committee thing or whatever it's to be called will say they need to massively increase the number of journeys and buses being used, meaning increased costs. Aberdeen might take the hit for a season or two but long term it doesn't sound sustainable, they'll have to charge at some point. Especially if, as I think they should do, they actually go and purchase their own buses for their own exclusive use. Link to comment

TheRock
To use for a couple hours 20 times a year. I guess they could also use a a couple for away games. I assume they just hire a couple from Central at the moment. Link to comment

Scotty_Toronto
35,000-45,000. Rostov's for example The problem with a stadium as old as Pittodrie is that maintenance costs will only rise. Eventually it'll be futile. Link to comment

The problem with a stadium as old as Pittodrie is that maintenance costs will only rise. Eventually it'll be futile. Yes, but I think the context of the maintenance costs were in whether Kingsford was affordable. People were counting it as a saving that would go towards (£7m ) loan repayments. Link to comment
Panda
Panda min, are you aware how much a bus costs? There is no chance that AFC will go and buy buses. But they'll rent 42 buses 18-24 times a season? They don't even need to buy 42 buses. They could buy 10. They should have their own stock, first to increase the number of journeys, and secondly because if we get a Scottish Cup replay at 10 days notice they may find 42 buses aren't available. They may even get a council/government subsidy anyway if they a) went electric (government desperate to roll these out to reach their targets) and b) made a big play of the fact it reduces car usage and is not for profit. aberdeen1970
Buses cost 200k upwards plus running costs. I can't see the club buying a fleet of buses somehow. Link to comment

He just doesn't go home because it's 35 mins walk from the pub and buses are crap and the whole pub to house, house to pub travel situation is clearly nonsense that no sane person would ever waste time on. Andy_123
Aye what a ridiculous suggestion. We're a football club nae a bus company. We'll have agreed some sort of daily compensation figure with First / Stagecoach for days we need priority use of their buses. It's only 20-25ish days a year. Link to comment
