It was only about 2 weeks ago you were defending his record

McAvoy's? I'd be interesting to see your post on that.

I think you'll find that I had said he immediately improved them last season but had started poorly this season.

If you're going to be the type of twat that posts allegations, at least quote them so everyone can see how wrong you are

Immediately much better. His placing sat Preston were (in order), 7th, 14th, 9th, 16th.

When he left Preston he had them in 16th with 8 games to go. His assistant Frankie McAvoy (assistant at Hamilton, Norwich and Preston) then won 5 out of the 8 to raise them to 13th gaining 17 points out of 24 (so only one loss)

This season, they started poorly, losing their opening 3 games, before going on a 7 match unbeaten run, although mainly draws (2 wins, 5 draws) before losing to QPR.

They’re in a pack though where their only 2 wins short of 7th place.

Is Frankie the man for them? Who knows and who cares. You’re just deflecting from how Preston regressed over the 4 years Alex Neil was there

I'm getting really tired and bored of your lame trolling now.

Please get a grip

It's fine.

You've just got a bee in your bonnet about Alex Neil. Every time his name is mentioned it triggers something

Davidson will likely leave St Johnstone at first decent offer as he’s had his best he can hope to achieve at St’s.

Turns out they weren't interested in Davidson. Must have had someone lined up already.

Aye, last year was an impossible act to follow. Especially after losing their 2 most influential players. McCann probably the biggest loss of all.

you've got a hard-on, trying to prove me wrong because you don't like that I have a differing opinion.

I thought you agreed to cut this shit out.

Cut the bullshit, you're boring me and probably the rest of the board

Behave min.

Folk post opinions that others disagree with all the time.

No need to get precious if someone disagrees with your opinion.

I’ve no problem with differing opinions. That’s fine, but to be a desperate troll, following me around and posting shite is beyond the pale.

Surely we should be able to discuss our differing opinions without that bullshit

I'm not following you around. You post prolifically on every football thread, often in disagreement with other posters' opinions. It works both ways.

Folk disagree with me all the time. And often by doing so they change my opinion on things as I can then see it from another perspective.

They're nearly the worst funded team in the Championship, the bigger name managers available probably won't be too interested.

Even so, the pay there would be a significant rise on what Davidson is earning right now. And he's proven he can work miracles with an extremely limited playing budget. Albeit this season hasn't turned out anything like as well as last season, although in mitigation he has had his 2 best players from then sold and his first choice striker left under freedom of contract.

Preston won't expect miracles from whoever they appoint. All they want is for their manager to keep them safe from relegation each year. But they do seem to be very quick to pull the trigger if they're in any way at risk of taking the tumble in mid-season. Davidson spent the longest time in his career as a player with Preston and it seems he's still quite fondly remembered there. A quick look at a couple of their fansites show that whilst he's not their first choice for the job (majority want Blackpool's manager but that's the equivalent in that part of the world of Hearts having a vacancy and pinching the incumbent Hibs manager so unlikely) he's near the top of their wishlist.

I'd be surprised if he isn't at least interviewed

I like your posts.

They seem reasoned and believable,

I couldnae go onywie near a 2nd paragraph on that subject.

Glad you did. I like it. Informative.

I am just back from an 11 pinter* lunchtime tho'.
Soz you guys who frown upon this.

Of course it is

He would be a revelation there

Everything he did here but with the pulling power of signing players who could live in Edinburgh over Aberdeen

Absolute pish, his style of play and lack of a plan B means he's quickly get found out there, there's a couple of players that he'd hinder more than he would help.  The pulling power of Edinburgh over Aberdeen is laughable too, money talks and players go where the cash is, see Ojo for example.

Don't think he'd be a revelation but he'd do very solid. Certainly wouldn't make things easier for Aberdeen if Hibs were at the level Aberdeen were generally at for 8 years.

Read an interview with Porteous yesterday and he said "We don't just want to be a cup team. We want to be a team securing third or fourth place every year."

No cups and securing a top 4 slot every year??? I know just the man!!

Yet he didn't do well in the last few seasons after other teams were back in the league.

McInnes's time was up and we all knew he only had one plan which most teams had since sussed out.

Would he fuck.  Footballs moved on and Darek hasn't.  He's done.

The pulling power which attracted Ojo and McCrorie to Easter Road you mean?  That pulling power?
