Nonsense. He gave a lenghty four hour speech at Valdai a fortnight ago, no teleprompter, live worldwide audience.

Regarding Kherson, if Ukraine/NATO don't steam in within 48 hours to take advantage of the current retreat, then we have to conclude a deal has been done to create a stable front line buffer zone.

Haha your boys shitting it eh

I think the recent threat of Ukraine blowing up the Kherson Dam leading to extensive flooding and stranding 30k troops probably led to the tactical retreat to easily defended positions over the winter months.

Hopefully a stable front line is created soon that can be reasonably permanent, Ukraine and NATO can claim huge media victory in repelling the Orcs, and they can keep talking about eventually taking back all the occupied territories without actually having the ability to do much more.

Crucially we could avoid the serious global escalation that has been on the cards without a negotiated compromise.

You mean they are digging in along the river for winter and then will re-evaluate come spring?

The river is a natural boundary with limited scope for further Ukraine advancement so the terrain could be defended with a fraction of the troops, the remainder probably be redeployed in Donbass, wouldn't you think

I'd like to think a deal is being done but its probably wishful thinking

We'll find out soon enough
