Ramirez has proven he can score 15 goals in a season. Currently misfiring or out of form, it still doesn't make sense to send him to a team we could likely be competing with for a league place or even European spot. He could offer Hearts something that could hurt us.

All opinions aside about McLennan, on paper he is still young enough and needs more regular minutes than we'll give him, because he has potential to develop. A loan within the league to a team that shouldn't be giving us a scare is a good move for everyone involved.

This is all pretty basic stuff.

Answering my question by repeating my question says a lot.

But if they got him he’d be missing for games v us but the player they did get is younger/fitter/stronger & potentially far better & can play in games v us.

Humphrys cannot be on worse form than Ramirez surely

JG basically admitting he fears what Ramirez could do to damage us on loan at Hearts (even missing games v us) more than the loan Humphrys can do.

That’s clearly poor management of a player he obviously rates/fears

Are you speculating there though? Do you actually know anything about this Humphrys? According to his stats he has averaged less than a goal every 4 games predominantly at league 1. What's that, 8 goals for the rest of the league season? That's all we have to go on.

Goodwin obviously didn't know who they'd bring in instead either. It's a calculated risk. Send them someome we know can hit double figuers in the league, or leave them to last minute scramble about trying to find another loan? Regardless of what Humphrys does, it was the right call in my opinion to not send Ramirez to Hearts.

Certainly speculating but chances are they could easily find a player that could do as good or better than Ramirez & also be able to play against us.

So makes sense to send him & weaken them. Even if (as I think he fears him) he can score a few for them. He cannot do so against us & we could potentially play them 5 times this season

Yes they could, but again that's calculated risk. We know Ramirez can score in this league, we've no idea about this other lad. A straight head to head we're probably better with them going for the unknown.

You're letting your opinion of Ramirez cloud it as you think he'd weaken them. Many would say his potential 15 goals would strengthen them given that they've lost Boyce for the season.

He wouldn't score against us if he was loaned, no. There would be another 29 games where he could help them over us though.

I am still perplexed why he is not on the bench and coming on in the 70th minute each week.  Having a quality second striker who can score 15 goals is a luxury only old firms can afford.  He had 3 goals in early league cup action

JG didn’t like him trying to get the team to pray before games.

JG is God & got really confused by this

Why should he fear a player he doesn’t want to play in his team though? Surely his own choices to play over him could easily offset a player he doesn’t want to play in another teams games excluding the 4/5 v us?

it makes little sense really.

Time yet, but a failure to replace Bates is an act of negligence. McCrorie should never be the solution to our defensive woes.

Moving him into defence in the midst of an injury crisis is fine, needs must. But we should never find ourselves in a position where if Scales or Stewart are injured or suspended (or we're playing Celtic), McCrorie drops into the back four.

Hoping Santa drops a CB down the Pittodrie chimney before the night's out.

JG’s defensive ‘easy fix’ thus far has been just as negligible as Glass imo

Overthinking the possibilties, probably a sign of boredom,  excentuated by tame end of window...... so far.

It's a very risky strategy from JG if we don't sign another defender especially given that Scales is on loan from Celtic who if we beat Partick could end up playing in the LC semi at Hampden.

McCrorie is needed in midfield he should only be played in defence in an emergency. As things stand one injury and McCrorie is back in defence. That is a ridiculous state of affairs unless he think MacKenzie can cover as a LCB.

Not really. See post a few up ^^^*

I fail to see the issues with weakening Hearts by limiting their striking options by a good few games & getting his big wage off books to potentially loan in a player that JG wants to play

Why’s he scared of that?

1. Because its clearly become personal between the two of them.  Recent form of the player aside.

2. He'd be crucified if Ramirez scored an important goal for Hearts that denied us something.

3. He probably sees McLennan at St Johnstone being a much smaller risk in comparison.

But on % of games available alone he’s helping Aberdeen by reducing his overall efficiency & also getting a big wage freed up
