Guest
RS, thoughts on Nick Dougherty? I backed him a few times in previous years and was suprised at his slump in the rankings. Needs to cut that last inch of his hair length, at least. Has a lot to say for himself for someone who has done fuck all the whole of this decade. The "black widow" strikes again. That Di must be cursed. On the Ryder Cup, I can't help thinking of Tony Jacklin's comments about Stevie G, who was a very nearly man today. Whatever decision they make, I hope it's the right one and not a sympathy vote nor a token Scot. Link to comment
strachanmcgheegoal
Poulter did enough at Medinah albeit I fear his golf isn't up to scratch at present - but then its match play and all that. I'd fear for him against a grinder. A Bubba type whipping up the crowd actually works in his favour but Tom Watson's experience will know that. A Furyk type with his Cliff Thorburn golf might see him unstuck. Gallagher is on form, very late right enough, and would draw the crowds. Ryder cup newbie might actually help him tbh. Would recommend P.Lawrie as his Caddie!!! (sorry Paul - I genuinely meant that as a complement) - experience, knowing what to expect etc. The one that concerns me most is Westie. Can't putt under pressure. Won't have Clark to play with. Absolutely riding on admittedly tremendous back card. Could go either way. Put it this way, he'll need to play to play twice either on Friday or Saturday and there's a pretty good chance it'll be both. If I was Tom Watson, assuming McIlroy/McDowell will be too hot for his team to handle, Westwood and partner would be the match I would be following, and noising at every opportunity. Link to comment
sooth_stander
Didn't realise Francesco MOLINARI hadn't qualified. He's a steady eddie, gutsy competitor. He must be in McGinley's thoughts, at the possible exclusion of Westwood Link to comment
Guest
Does GMac need a pick? If so, Poulter, Stevie G and GMac for me. Link to comment
strachanmcgheegoal
No, GMac's in at the expense of Gallacher Link to comment
Guest
In that case, no brainer. Stevie G HAS to get a pick. Deserves it on merit. Link to comment
strachanmcgheegoal
The autos are, Rory McIlroy (NI)Henrik Stenson (Swe)Victor Dubuisson (Fra)Jamie Donaldson (Wal)Sergio Garcia (Spa)Thomas Bjorn (Den)Justin Rose (Eng)Martin Kaymer (Ger)Graeme McDowell (NI) Link to comment
ollie1903
Monty for a wildcard Link to comment
strachanmcgheegoal
Preferred teams therefore presumably, 1/ The mac attack2/ Bjorn and Kaymer, or Stenson3/ Rose and Poulter4/ Garcia and newbie (Westwood if picked) Link to comment
strachanmcgheegoal
Funnily enough, I thought today that if Poults didn't want the pressure of the early sunday slot and Westwood wasnt picked Monty wouldn't actually be the worst shout in the world. Link to comment
Dynamo
I'm sure he'll be fine. Especially playing with rory. Anyway, hope Westwood doesn't get a pick. Link to comment
ollie1903
If he's having late nights due to feeding n' stuff, he'll be able to borrow Rory's alarm clock Link to comment

sooth_stander
Stephen Gallacher, Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood are named as the three wildcards for the European team to play the USA at Gleneagles Well, I think Westwood is a lucky lucky boy. I'd have had Franko Molinari masel. Link to comment
ChutneyLove
Westwood shouldn't be in there, must give a good gam. He's a fans favourite I suppose. Link to comment
tightbreeks
back in the day when the uspga was matchplay, gene sarazen the night before the final was in the speakeasy and a journalist asked? it's 3am in the morning gene, why you ain't in bed like the other guy? yeah, but he ain't sleepin' Link to comment
Guest
Great to see Richie Ramsay hitting some form. He smashed down the door to get his tour card and made top 50 OoM for three years on the trot without threatening to win big i.e. majors etc. Then he was 70th last year and not making the year-end money-fest so this was an important year in his development. The boy's responding well. Still think another NE loon will have the better record over the next couple of years. A golfer who's record is infinitely superior and being a decade and a half older, will be using his greater experience to maximum effect. It's impossible to predict in this game. With desire however, that's the biggest currency. If Lawrie wants it enough, he will fly. Hope these injury scares he's had are consigned to history. Link to comment
Dynamo
Started today as he finished yesterday. Double bogey. 4 shots dropped in 2 holes. Anyway, would love to play that course. Epic scenery. Link to comment

Aye but some balls to grab a couple of birdies to make a cut he was missing with four to go. The wife always says about going to that event. Given the weather there this week, delighted to wait another year. Agree. Looks a stunning place although Radar scares me with his anecdotes as to how expensive it is there! Link to comment
Dynamo
Quite impressive Rory managed to 4 putt the 12th two days in a row... Link to comment
strachanmcgheegoal
Don't like picking on individuals but had a squint at the KLM open at lunch time there. 1/ Thomas Bjorn making a cunt of it. Hope he's keeping his better golf for next couple of weeks 2/ Pablo Larazabel (sp) (the gadgie that's leading). WTF is he doing on the green before he putts. A fucking eternity. Jesus Wept. strachanmcgheegoal
Oops, that'll be the classic strachanmcgheegoal Indian sign on him then. +5 all of which inflicted on two par three's. Ooft. Not mentioning thems that missed the cut. Shame, PL was playing well -2 I think when I saw him. Edit: scratch that, never got to 2 under. A triple at a par four seems to have thrown him. ChutneyLove
Greg Norman's left hand won't be much use for a reachy roond with that old tennis slag now. You'd think he could afford a gardener. Link to comment
