NorthernLights24
Novak Djokovic became the most high-profile casualty so far at this year's French Open as he was beaten 6-4 6-4 6-4 by Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tennis/8075137.stm Good news as that must mean Murray strengths his grip on the number 3 spot. NorthernLights24
Murray is playing Cilic right now. He won the 1st set 7-5. Mon the Murray! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tennis/8075491.stm Link to comment
Sonoftherock
Straight sets victory against Cilic this afternoon... another brilliant performance from Andy. Cilic had been flying before this afternoon, but his forehand started to fall apart towards the end of the first set. Cilic is one of the top young players around, but like Andy isn't at his best on Clay. As I predited it's Gonzalez in the QF... he'll be a much tougher propositon on Clay. Has made the quarter finals twice before at Roland Garros and is easily a top 10, perhaps top 5, Clay court player. Outside the big 3, the toughest draw he could have hoped for. Link to comment

Sonoftherock
NADAL HAS BEEN KNOCKED OUT OF THE FRENCH OPEN he has won the french open for the last four years in a row and was considered invincible here. Rafa Nadal was scheduled to meet Gonzales or Andy Murray in the semi-final. Djokovic has been knocked out on the other side of the draw. Murray will never, ever have a better chance to win the French Open. Potential route to the final: QF = GonzalesSemi = Soderling/Verdasco/DavydenkoFinal = Federer or Del Potro I fancy Del Potro for tournament.. has a relatively easy course to Federer in the semi, and has the game to beat him. Thrashed Andy Murray at Madrid the other week. he's down at 5/1 now.... I was considering an each way at 26/1 this morning - gutted I didn't take a chance! Link to comment

minijc
Aye Milners, he seems decent enough like, not up himself like others can be when they have on the big bets, big loss like a bit gutted for him but he reassured me that he could take the loss no matter how much. Link to comment
Nespa
Gonzalez is 11/10 to beat Murray (4/6) tomorrow!! very generous me thinks! Link to comment
Sonoftherock
Gonzalez is 11/10 to beat Murray (4/6) tomorrow!! very generous me thinks! It's alway been worth betting against the British tennis player in the UK, as they're prices are usually incorrect - their opponents are alway very generously priced, as the bookies attempt to balance their books. I fancy Gonzales tomorrow on two counts: (1) Murray is due a bad game on Clay, and (2) Quite simply, I believe Gonzales is the better player on Clay. On clay, he's just outside Federer, Nadal & Djokovic. I'm tempted to ask for a quote on a Gonzales vs The Pony Final.... Link to comment
Bobby Connor
The match is live on BBC 2 today from 2:15. Link to comment

You're probably right, I still think Murray has a decent chance today though if for no other reason than that Gonzales has been struggling with injuries recently. He only played in one of the clay Masters 1000 events due to injury and he pulled out of the doubles yesterday with a virus. Given that players routinely retire against Murray due to injuries (it's happened once already in this tournament and Cilic wasn't far away from doing it either) Gonzales might struggle if it goes 4/5 sets. Admin Bebo Posted June 2, 2009 Admin Share Posted June 2, 2009 Murray's serve almost broken at the first attempt. He's looking pretty shaky so far. He always does it the hard way doesn't he? His first serve is looking shocking. Link to comment
Sonoftherock
Class act is Gonzales... if he carries on playing like this Murray has no chance. No disgrace in losing to this guy - If he bows out today, he can hold his head hight and say it's been a reasonable Clay court season. Link to comment

Hmmm - I've only been watching for 7 mins as I'd forgotten it was on, but you can hardly blame me for the jinx this time as he'd done his worst by then. A 6-0 gift at this level isn't too clever.... Still, well done on a great performance in the championships. I can't agree with whichever commentator was saying he was favourite to win now. There's some specialist clay-courters still in the tournament. Roger isn't, but hope he wins! Link to comment
