Draw for french open has been decided

:hysterical: It's a fair point though. To be honest, these days I prefer watching Andy Murray than Aberdeen - with Murray your witnessing a world class Scottish sportsmen, whose dedicated every waking moment to the sport. He might not be the most charismatic, but he's certainly an inspiration to all young Scottish people. Pity the same can't be said of Bebo, Mark Kerr and the rest of the Pittodrie drinking team - amateurs the lot of them.

Anyway, gutted for Murray, Chela is probably the worst draw he could possibly have hope for. A Clay court specialist from Argentina, whose a former quarter finalist at Roland Garros. His world ranking is completely inaccurate, undoubtably a top 25 player on Clay. One postive is that Andy will know his game inside out, I remember in an interview, he named Chela as one of his favourite players to watch. If Andy isn't on top of his game, he'll lose this match - no doubt. Unfortuntely he's not going to be able to ease himself into this tournament. Although, that might be an advantage - one of the reasons he got beat by Verdasco in Australia, I feel, was because he'd had such a easy path through the opening rounds.

Sadly Nadal is in Murrays half of the draw, and should he make it that far, he'll get Murray in the semi-final. I would doubt Andy will get that far though. If he can beat Chela in the first round, he has an easier second round match though - however lopez in the third round also has a good French open record. In the fourth round, should he make it that far, he'll probably get Maran Cilic, who, like Andy isn't great on clay, so he might not even make it that far either. Quarter Final would be against Fernando Gonzalez, who is a brilliant clay court player, who'd almost certain depose of Murray before the semi final against Nadal.

In short, Murray isn't going to win this one I'm afraid.... the Quarter finals would be a realistic target, but it'll be a real struggle. I honestly think Chela could take him out in the first round, while Lopez will be equally as dangerous in the third round. To be honest, if he's not on his game, he'll go in either the first or third round.

Very impressive performance from Murray today, just won 2, 2 & 1. Complete domination - the best I've ever seen him play on clay. Augers well for the rest of the tournament... shouldn't have too much trouble against Potito Starace in the next round - athough he's another clay specialist, he won't beat Murray in todays form.

Lopez or Montanes in round 3 will be tough however....

Low point of the day - some drunk idiot singing "Flower of Scotland" as Murray was trying to serve out the match. I really hope the Tartan army don't jump on the Murray bandwagon - they are an embarrassment.

I know he's never really performed on clay, but did he not learn the game playing on clay in Barcelona? I've always wondered why he hasn't really done it on clay, there doesn't seem to be a good reason for it.

As for the Tartan army, agreed they are an embarrassment but at least they would support Murray unlike most people in England.

I think it's quite funny that Britain has now got the best male tennis player it's had, maybe since Fred Perry, but most English don't like him. :thumbup1:

In trouble in 2nd round match - won first set easy 6-3 then all downhill losing 2nd set 6-2 and now double break down in 3rd set 4-1.

Worst I've seen him play this season... looked like he took his foot off the gas following an easy first set. Intensity dropped, and his serve is being punished on this slow surface.

Big let down today... if he does bow out this afternoon, it'll be interesting to hear his excuse. Every time he's lost in a grand slam recently, he's come out praising his opponent, claiming they played "the game of their life." That's not been the case here. To go out to a player outside the top 100, in a grand slam 2nd round, should not happen to a world number 3.

Oh how the mighty have fallen, Leighton Hewitt just got humped didn't he? I remember when he first came through and looked like the next best thing, think it all went to his head like.

C'mon Andy

Was one of the top players during a down turn in tennis.... once the new breed arrived, he was simply swept aside. Tenacious player, but no where near to the level of Nadal & Federer, even when he was world number 1.

Andy is struggling badly again - Tipsarevic serves for the opening set...... going to need to dig deep again.

Hewitt basically burned out. His style of play is vey demanding and he was basically done by 22-23
