Well said min?. The whole process from the outset has been pure unadulterated propaganda, power and control. Why some continue not to accept this is completely playing into the hands of Sturgeon and Johnson, and they have got us all exactly where they want us. Hence why we are no closer to this chapter of our lives ending.

At least Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace had an eventual ending.

Stick her in a locked prison cell with Jean Ferguson and she would soon think twice about providing us with falsified and misleading information again.

Government should have had a virus task force in place in case something like this happened, it's happened before in history, it should have been prepared for. Soon as it happened the group of experts should have taken over the whole process, completely independent though with political input from all sides. Its been politicized when that should have been no where near it. One UK think tank of leading virus experts, best management, best financial leaders. The cross border thing just now is a shambles, guy flying in from America to Scotland but being told as he came via Dublin he didn't need to quarantine, people have actually made that rule, our political leaders.

Spoke person in particular needed to have no political ties, just for common sense and to get everyone on board.

It was the manner of how it was done.

Then completely shat the bed when it came to shutting down Glasgow.

Then when she did, the Weegie infestation were still allowed to travel up here, and all over the country, she didn't want to see those poor lambs suffer.

I think you want to drive your own agenda here of what I was alluding to in my post.

She stated so many times 'I don't want to make this political' then made it political within 5 mins of her speeches. She lost herself completely.

I'm not trying to drive any agenda. I'm merely pointing out that the thing folk on here never stop whinging about has benefited Aberdeen massively.

There is plenty that Sturgeon has done that pisses me off, but nothing I can do about it I guess.

I just find the whole 'I don't want to be political' whilst being political just makes me laugh.

I can't see there being much change until perhaps April/May time. There's nothing Joe Public can do. She makes the rules. All we can do is moan, and I'm sure we have all done that and given our opinion on things but at the end of the day, fuck all we can do about it really.

We all get to vote in May.

Heres hoping for mild warm spring/summer?

I don't know that at all. So if I'm wrong, please show me how.

The virus prevalence was so low at the point of the local lockdown that it had negligible effect. She over reacted. Closing hospitality for 2 weeks has no effect, we can see that now, if that's all it takes why are we in never ending lockdown now?

EDIT to say I maybe should've worded it that it's impossible to prove.

When's she confirming or not if some kids are going back next week? Bloody hope so!

Biggest annoyance for me is the constant changing of the goalposts (UK mainly but also Scot Gov.)

Ahh vaccine - the way out

Ahh variant - might not work

Numbers drop - great

Ahh another new variant.

Give us a fucking proper plan eh.  I doubt if a lot of folks patience will continue after the most vunerable are vaccinated.

Why isn't it?

The folk up here that I know aren't whinging about it. It's posters on here, trying to "fit in" with others, showing that they can be sheep too that's really shite. Yes she made an example of the AFC 8 and inconsistently didn't apply the same to the weege. Hardly the crime of the century. We are suffering massively reduced effects. Clacks and Kilmarnock are tracking hundreds if not thousands of per cents worse than Aberdeen and shire.

That 2 week closure of hospitality couldn't have had such a big effect. It was in August when the virus prevalence was very low anyway. Just taking that measure and ignoring everything else just doesn't fit in with everything else that's happened in the last year.

Can a journalist ask her..does she think the cruisers will be open for the Euros???

Majority of it was poorly worded not really making sense. Think he meant they have more bigger cities. That’s not really been the issue however.

England had more deaths due to ethnic groups living in dense households and being more  vulnerable to virus if anything.

London alone is 160% of the population of Scotland and in a far denser area

To compare countries on a 'who has down better basis is silly'.

It wasn't just closing hospitality though, was it? There were restrictions on travel too, I thought?

Given the pictures that emerged of Aberdeen that evening too and the high profile nature of the Soul8, it was clear that the public health stretchy was to "send a message" that what had went on was unacceptable.

Was it unfair on Aberdeen? Maybe. Did it likely help in terms of virus prevalence? I think so.

Exactly. If we had proper specialists dealing, in coordination, with scientific, biological and economical matters from the start of this saga, we arguably may not have even required the vaccine.

The vaccination process is simply partially diluting the appalling mismanagement of the handling of the virus, and even the vaccine has been administered to the wrong sections of our society.

It should have been rolled out to people of working age from 16 to 64, regardless of social class, race, colour, and general health, in order to get our nation finally back up and running instead of feeling like a criminal just for stepping one foot outside your front door.

As for the red list quarantine rules, even they (surprisingly I know?) have been haphazardly delivered, implemented and enforced. The countries appear to have been picked out of a tombola without any reason, logic or substance at all. I note the predominately Islamic, North African countries don't appear on the list.

Messrs Matheson and Shapps have simply put these restrictions into place without any rationalism applied whatsoever but quite clearly have do so with complete disregard for the people they serve.

There's not "red list" in regards to Scotland. All arrivals in Scotland, from anywhere outside the UK & Ireland, must quarantine in hotel accommodation.

So not sure what you're on about there

The people of Aberdeen benefited from it with lower virus prevalence and more relaxed restrictions for longer, yet yous never stop whinging about it.

Weird.

How do you know that the good people of Aberdeen benefited from the tyrannical restrictions placed upon them unnecessarily in August?

Have you been able to visit Aberdeen and carry out your own subjective case study?

I fucking love the city of Aberdeen but unfortunately have only visited the once, for an appointment at ARI, surprisingly due to lockdown measures and unjustified restrictions since March the 23rd last year. At least going to ARI was a release from the same 4 fucking walls.

Accepted. She made an example of Cosgrove + 7. It was arguably the right thing to do, discourage the rest of the country from breaking the rules.

Moaning about it is stupid. It didn't do the city any harm and if the moaners can't see that the government were trying to get people not to flout the rules, it's like they are endorsing it. Yes the figures then got worse elsewhere in the country and the same lockdowns weren't enforced but failing to see the intent behind the local August lockdown and twisting it to serve pre-set agendas is nuts, or in many cases on here, just trying to "fit in" often by reason of not having the capacity to think for themselves.

Yeah that's all maybe true but a bit of context of the time. Aberdeen was hit by a local outbreak which test and trace appeared to be dealing with, we were in the middle of the 'eat out to help out' which a lot of businesses missed out on through no fault of their own and furlough was meant to be ending leading to a lot of anxiety (not her fault)

She went ott

It wasn't grammar. It was you claiming only people from certain countries had to quarantine. That's not true. All arrivals do.

Yes, but there certain exemptions like returning from work abroad if you are a UK National or rights to live here that are applicable.

I'm aware people arriving in the UK from the itemised 33 red list countries have to bizarrely isolate in a government prescribed hotel for 10 days upon arrival.

No. People arriving in England from the red lost countries have to quarantine in a hotel.

People arriving in Scotland from ANYWHERE have to quarantine in a hotel.

Maybe she didn't? She only announced it the same day as Handoncock.

On your other post, yes she went hard or "ott" but we did not miss out on the incredibly stupid eat out to help out thing. The measures maybe came in early September?

You are wrong.

The hospitality section in Aberdeen did miss out on the eat out to help scheme.
